Recently got a gaming comp. Suggest some Games?

Hey. I got a new comp a few weeks ago, and it's a 'gaming' computer. It's far from having the best specs... and is probably just barely at mid range... but I'd like to get some games.

I think I'm gonna get Oblivion, Mafia II, and Fallout New Vegas when it comes out.

I like shooters, RPGs, MMOs (almost all kinds), and that's basically it. So any free PC games and free to play MMOs would be great, and then just any games you think are good that I could pick up.

      Thanks.

      Orange Box is a must.
I'm not sure what kind of shooters you like, but I highly recommend the STALKER series.
Can't go wrong with Mass Effect 1-2.

As already mentioned, get the following:
      Mirrors Edge
The Orange Box (Portal, TF2 and HL2:EP2)
      StarCraft II

Other games that can be good fun are
      Minecraft
      Machinarium
      Geometry Wars
Killing Floor (you need some friends to play this one with)
These games are indie and thus pretty cheap, but incredibly fun. You can get them all on Steam, except for Minecraft, which is actually going through a free weekend right now, so you can check it out for free. Basically just go to the download section of the page, get the one that suits your operating system and run it. If it asks you to log in at any point, just leave the fields blank and keep pressing "ok" or "enter" or whatever buttons you can press.

Oblivion and FallOut 3 are okay I suppose. I never really got into FallOut3 and Oblivion I haven't tried.

What games have you played before?

Orange box. Probably the best value box of any kind ever created by man, which is impressive considering it happens to contain three of the best games ever.

The best thing it has is the Half-Life 2 series so far, which is the best experience you'll ever get out of a PC. It's epic.

TF2 will last longer though and Portal is just a straight up brilliant game that unfortunately isn't very long. Portal 2 is gonna be awesome, with 2 full length campaigns and everything

Half Life 2 beats everything else out there in terms of immersion though. I don't know if you've ever paid specific attention to the game's audio, but do this and try to tell how much more attention the developer's paid to it compared to other games.

Modulated Orca whale noises for the striders, for instance.

Thanks folks!! I got Half Life 2 and I'm loving it. I've played TF2 and didn't really enjoy it, and I've beaten portal so I'll wait till the new one is out.

Can anyone recommend some good RPGs? I don't care if they're "outdated" or anything. In fact, I find a lot of older RPGs can be better than newer ones.

So any good online/ offline RPG games? Both Western and Eastern?

      Thanks.

For an FPS grab Crysis...sooo sick.

RPG I'd say Dragon Age Origins.

Could also get Borderlands or Stalker, both great games and are like a FPS/RPG hybrid.

Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction is pretty good. Make sure that you play it on Closed Battle.net.

Thanks guys/gals. I didn't like Dragon Age much, and I've beaten ES:O a dozen or more times. Does anyone have any Free Roam RPG games to recommend? Other than the ES Series, Borderlands, Risen, Divinity, or DA? Cause I either already have those, or don't like them.

Oh by the way, check out Amnesia: The Dark Descent, if you're into horror. It's an indie survival horror game, and it is the most frightening horror game I've ever played. It's $20 on Steam and has a lot of game time in it and a great story. Definitely check it out if you want to get immersed in a good game

I'm not into Sims or anything like that. I used to be though. I picked up Gothic 2 btw. I'll let you know what I think of it once I get more time into it. And I'll definately look into that... and I actually just set up my steam account a week or so ago so I can get it!

Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 was fun, though I was younger when I played it.

Beyond Good and Evil is a very good cult classic adventure game if you're into that kind of thing. The music, artwork, characters, story, and general ambience are all beautiful, and the gameplay is pretty fun.

On a serious note, Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind is an awesome game. Not really new, but still a fun game. I like it better than Oblivion.

KOTOR 1-2 and Neverwinter Nights, they aren't free roam, but they are excellent rpg's. You really can't go wrong with TES 3 I love that game.
