Ok, but how did you come to interpret that as saying that the clones have definitely been removed? He's just saying that not all characters are guaranteed to make it in the next one.

Because I have actually been exploring inside the Nintendo Forums (I won't join, b/c they are trying to bum private info out of me), and one of them got a letter from the maker that said he was going to remove the clones.

Just so you know:

1) Where are Lyn, Ike, Blaziken, Deoxys, and Lucario? Fire Emblem and Pokemon are highly popular franchises in Japan!
2) Most of those characters can't really attack anyways (Navi for example)
3) Banjo, Conker, and a handful of the Kongs were sold to Microsoft, so it is impossible for them to appear
4) 3/4 of them are 3rd party characters, and the creator said they were only going to put a couple of them (Ex: Snake is a 3rd party character, and only appeared because the company that makes MGS begged the SSBB maker to put Snake in), and the most likely of them all would have to be Sonic
5) Characters that have wings or fins, but no limbs cannot appear. [/b]

I know, but it's still quite a cool picture. And the character select screen should be that big.

I'm going with Geno (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geno) of Super Mario RPG. I feel that he (it?) could offer a unique style of fighting; as far as I know there is no Super Smash Brothers character who could be said to rely in such a large proportion on projectile attacks.

Yeah, it should, but instead of having all those 3rd party characters, they should have more Nintendo characters (characters from Pokemon, Metroid, Zelda, Mario, Kid-Icarus, Ice Climbers, Game&Watch, Animal Crossing, and Fire Emblem would be those characters). Lyn should be in it!

Geno could have a chance, but just so you know, just because he appeared in a Mario game doesn't mean he is Nintendo's. He is actually a 3rd Party character, because Square-Unix made him and Mallow, although, the creator of SSBB said he was going to add a couple of 3rd parties in, but not too many. Probably about 2 more (besides Snake).
And just so you know which ones are 3rd party: Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow, Bomberman, MegaMan, Geno, and Mallow.

Geno does have a pretty decent chance of appearance, because out of all the 3rd party characters that aren't sonic characters, Mallow and Geno have the best chance. Right now, Sonic is probably the most likely though (probably not Tails).


Lyn has a somewhat decent chance, but not too good of one (she isn't too popular in Japan, but is pretty popular in the US, since she was the 1st Fire Emblem character to ever appear (other than Marth and Roy) in a Fire Emblem Game). Probably around 45%, but I really hope she does appear, and that they change their minds about Pichu (that Volt Tackle would pwn!), because Pichu was my main character in SSBM, and Lyn is my most-used character in Fire Emblem (she kicks butt and evades so well, but levels up so fast). Without those 2, I cannot kick butt with one main character anymore.... (I can so pwn with Pichu. I can get KOed but I score the most KOs w/Pichu).

Here is a dedication to Lyn and Pichu:




Lyn>Roy; Lyn>Ike; Lyn>Hector; Lyn>Marth; Lyn>Pichu; Pichu>Pikachu;
(And you can do the same for your characters if you wish)

Okay, but other than that, here is my wishlist of what characters would appear:

All 25 characters from SSBM (especially Pichu) (true probability: 85%. Clones, G&W, & Ice Climbers in SSBM: 1%)

Lyn (true probability of getting in: 45%)

Ike (true probability of getting in: 99%)

Blaziken (true probability of getting in: 60%)

Deoxys (like Zelda, can transform) (chances of getting in: 65%)

Lucario (chances of getting in: 60%)

Diddy Kong (chances of getting in: 85%)

Sonic (chances of him getting in: 97%)

Tails (chances of him getting in: 12%)

All others are fair game. But, I still want Lyn the most!

Off topic here, but man, the FE games have such awesome sprite animations.

Blaziken! I'd forgotten about him, he is my favourite fighting type pokemon, and I love the sound he makes.

I hope he gets in.

Yeah, they are the coolest, but Lyn's are totally the best (she so pwns the Dragon, if you give her afa's drops and all the powerups found in the game, plus you don't evolve her until level 20 and level her up to about 11 in her story, she is indestructable, except you want to keep plenty of Elixers on her when fighting the Dragon/Nergal).

You know, he has a pretty good chance of making it, since he did make it on to the Japanese polls (Pichu and Lyn did not ), but I would still rather have Deoxys out of those 3 Pokemon likely to get in. With the ability to transform into 3 other forms besides the one he is in, he would be so awesome. I know some about Deoxys, even if I don't own him on my Emerald pack. And if he appears, depending on which form he is in when you fight will depend on his stats.

Normal Deoxys has average stats in everything
Attack Deoxys has power enough in his attacks to OHKO anyone, but everytime he uses Psycho-Boost, his attack power will be cut in half (100% damage the first time, and a OHKO, 50% damage the 2nd time, and might KO, then 25% etc). Attack Deoxys has pretty good speed, but really poor defense
Defense Deoxys has defense so great, it would probably take about 200% to even get him KO'ed, but his attacks and speed are very poor.
Speed Deoxys has speed even better than Pichu's (or Lyn's for that matter), and can easily triple jump. It has pretty decent attack, but 'Pichu poor' defense.

*Edit* I went to Gamestop today, and asked them about Lyn's and Pichu's chances of being in Smash Bros Brawl, and they said Pichu, Roy, and Dr. Mario will for sure be taken out of this one (Picchhuu!!! ). Zelda will be in SSBB. No information on Peach yet, but they also said Lyn has a 50% chance of making it, because of the fact she was the first FE character to appear in the USA (excluding Roy), and has many fan clubs, though the reason she may not appear is that the Japanese don't really like her very much (they didn't really like FE: Blazing Sword [known as FE in the USA] in the first place). I asked about other characters, and they said there are going to be many characters, but they don't know who they are. I then asked them about Young Link->WW Link, and they said that they really did not know about that..

So Pichu is gone forever from the SSB universe (too bad, I was really looking forward to it using Volt Tackle as it's emblem attack) , and because Pichu was my most-used character, and Lyn has not-too-good of a chance of making it, I don't think I will have a main character that I rely on most anymore...

Well... take what the guys at Gamestop said with a grain of salt. It's not like they're insiders or anything. If you ask me, I'd say that all the characters from SSBM will be in Brawl, but perhaps I'm just being overly optimistic.
