Mirror Mask ( New Lucid Dream Movie)

There is currently a limited release of a new movie called Mirror Mask. I saw it last ngiht and it was amazing! The whole film captured that dreamign feelign and if you are a lucid dreamer you MUST MUST MUST MUST see this! I wish I coudl take all fo you guys to see it. Here is a synopsis.

This is the story of Helena (Stephanie Leonidas), a fifteen-year-old girl working for her family circus, who wishes - quite ironically - that she could run away from the circus and join real life. But such is not to be the case, as she finds herself on a strange journey into the Dark Lands, a fantastic landscape filled with giants, monkeybirds and dangerous sphinxes. On her quest to return home, Helena searches for the Mirrormask, an object of enormous power, which is her only hope of escaping the Dark Lands.[/b]
Okay That sounds not that exciting, but the thing is she goes into her dreams and has to find a way to save her mind whiel her other slef is awake. She knows she is dreamign and even has some dream control in many parts. The visuals are the best I have ever ever seen. She can look through mirrors in her dream world to see her waking self runing her life, and its up to her to save herslef from in her dreams. This is where is is showing:

      Howdy all,

I'm BACK! I joined back in September but immediately moved to a new home and so have been delinquint in my new online dream home.

Anyway ... I was lucky enough to see this film here in Austin. My girlfriend is a big Neil Gaiman fan and I've always appreciated the cover art on his comics / graphic novels and this film was designed by that artist (see also his BBC series NEVERWHERE).

While I can't give the films rave reviews for the acting, writing or storyline (it's a bit much like The NeverEnding Story meets a Brothers Quai [sic?] animated film) the visuals are absolutely worth seeing. I've been wanting to see these folks art collage style actualized in a moving film and ... HERE IT IS!

I've been thinking about going to see that, and now you've convinced me. It looks like an interesting movie. And lucky for me, the only location it's playing in my state is just up the street from my dorm!
Well life is short, so love the one ya' got, 'cause you might get run over or you might get shot.

That good old fashioned dreaming feeling

I would like to see that movie, I love the feeling I get when I watch a a movie that reminds me of dreaming. Its a melancholy feeling, similar to having a really good dream and then immediately waking up from it and remembering it vividly, but not being able to go back into it.

This is a little more mainstream of a movie than youre talking about, but Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind really gave me the feeling of a dream, almost like I was watching one of my own dreams happening. It almost seemed like he was having a Lucid Dream, since he could imagine different things happening, and the different scenes of the "dream" meshed into one another, like when it was raining in his living room.

Also, the end of Vanilla Sky really gave me a powerful feeling, really hard to describe. Its so sad, but it was similar to when I know I'm about to wake up from an epic dream that I wont get back. And the whole idea of Kurt Russell's character just blew me away (I wont elaborate for those who havent seen it).
Why does the eye see more clearly in dreams than the imagination when awake?

Where's "around here"? You know, if this film turns out to be as good as it sounds, maybe we could organize a couple little "DV movie outings" - where members from a certain area can meet up and go together?

Ohio is pretty well covered with a showing in the north and south, how about the rest of you?

PS -- TAISIA, where'd you get the avatar? - I did a poster for an indie film once and it's almost identical to your avatar, as far as the concept.

      HO - LEE - SHEITE!!!!!

Just got back from the theater --- This movie was out-fucking-standing!

Two minutes into the movie and I was still trying to get over the graphics.... of the opening credits!! Wonderful subtle 3D animation would carry over throughout the whole film. Only one piece of video I've ever seen that was better and that was a film called "Fast Forward". This film makes "What Dreams May Come" look like a freakin wedding video!

Yeah, maybe, I don't know. I didn't mind that at all. I mean, the plot is just an excuse for using the amazing visuals (shit, what do you think music videos are?)

Anyway, the chick was cute (yeah, I know she's really young -- SIGH) I'm just saying, she reminded me of a young Natasha Kinsky?("Cat People"). Acting wasn't so terrible, at least not that I noticed (or cared). I chuckled at the light switch RC (I just didn't think any of the other TEN people in there even realized what that was). The artwork -- just ALL over this movie was intriguing.

I bought this movie a few days ago and I must say it was excellent. I loved the art aspect and the amazing graphics. It was sorta slow in the beginning but once she was dreaming it held my attention and wouldnt let go. Im a hopeless romantic so the very end of it was my favorite part. I was afraid that they might have ended it w/ out ever knowing if they met up in reality. The part where the song 'close to you' is playing was brilliant it was like she was inside of a music box or something. The 'giants orbiting'....I thought that was visually amazing w/ the shadows- very creepy. The flying books (butterflies) in the library- loved it....ahhh...I could really go on all day about this movie and what a cutie that girl is!

I love the hovering giants also. I've got some massive speakers hooked up to my comp so whenever they talk it was like "Chhhhhaaaaaaaarrrrrrmmmm?!" and the room shakes. lol. Good stuff.

That, and the part with all of the "Bobs" and "Malcom" were two of my favorites.

      "My name's Helena."

      "Bob." "Bob." "Bob." "Bob." "Bob."
      "Bob." "Bob." "Bob." "....Malcom."
