OMG, I love these games. My parents have the whole set (they are the gamers, not me XD).

I recently finished Revelation. It's so pretty! But those games in general have got to be some of the prettiest things I have ever seen.

It's one of my ambitions to LD there. Yis it is.

I've played some of my parents' other games which are in a simelar vein, but I've never enjoyed them as much. They never have good stories and the worlds and puzzles are never as well developed.

Yeah, how fascinating are the Myst games? I've only played a couple of the demos but they're absolutley breath-taking. Does anyone know what one I should get? I've been thinking of getting one for a fair while now...

How great would it be to explore all those Myst games in your dreams? Grr if ever you want a reason to get regular LD's that's it lol.

I loved the first Myst game. The second one just didn't feel right to me...I dunno, I guess I just had different ideas about how it should have unfolded and I wasn't really able to get past that. I purchased the third one as well, but again something was just wrong. If I'm not mistaken, somewhere along the way the Myst development reigns were tossed to someone else, but I'm not sure if it was for the second incarnation or the third.

BTW, I used images from the original Myst on the original site here.

I would say Riven and Revelation are the best. Revelation is really pretty! It feels short though... But that might just be because I stayed up till 3am three night is a row playing it and finished it.

But as with any series, it's probably best to play them all in order.

That's so cool. Myst players are the luckiest LDer IMO. They are because they can visit any of the ages themselves at night Riven is required as the best Myst game in the series, too bad you didn't like it =/ Oh well, you should play revelations if you liked the original Myst. It was one of my least favs, but it feels more Myst then Exile does.

I love the soundtrack to the original Myst--I'm listening to it now actually, while studying for exams.

Interestingly the creators of Myst were originally not going to include music because they worried it would detract from the ambience; to the contrary, I think it does a wonderful job of enhancing it.

I played Riven...(loved it)...then I got Exile (loved it too)...then I went back and got the original Myst and thought it was pretty awesome but never finished it. I wanted to get the newer one but I remember they didn't have it available for MAC. I think URU...and what's this Revelations? Is this a newer one? Anyways I need to check and see if I can get them. Those games are fantastic. Also what got me into 3d as well.

I played myst, and got pretty far, seeing how I was probably 10 or 11 when I first played it. Could anyone re-summarize the storyline for me? I never actually figured out what the story was about. . .

Also I recall, getting stuck on the dock/island world, in a big room with a giant compass. All the lights would turn off. Does anyone know where I was, or how to crack it's mystery?

I used to play it alone at night, and it would creep me out. I could only play it in the day.

I really should take it out again and look at it. It is one of the best learning tools for your brain. Thinking outside the box, persistence(tons of it, unless your genius), creativity, logic. It's really all covered.

I'm getting this game and Myst II, I have high expectations now.

By the way, I hope it won't be too hard. I might be tempted to use a guide if I can't figure it out.

HI squall. I must say I have all the guides for this game only because they are written so well and give a lot of background information. I remember when I was younger, I would just read the Myst strategy guide for fun.. I still read it every once in a while Make sure you get the Prima Guides if you do though. Good Luck with Myst, its drop dead amazing.

I heard about Myst a while ago, it was on the news because a school teacher had told his students to use it as inspiration or something. I haven't heard much about it sinse then, but now I'm definetly getting it.

I just got End of Ages, completing my collection. Strangely I've kept buying them despite only finishing the first... there's just some mysterious pull to them, don't know why. They're very compelling games, I have all the soundtracks in my iTunes library.

And I hope I'm not the only one here who noticed that Barbizzle's avatar is based on Myst. I mean, that'd just be sad, right?
      Don't ask.

Over the Christmas break i played and finished Myst III: Exile. I thought it was alright, but very short (just took a couple days to finish). Also, I was very disappointed with the Edanna age: never before has a Myst age required so much random and erratic clicking...I mean they just immerse you in an age where nothing really makes sense and anything has the potential for being inclusive in the story; furthermore it was often not immediately obvious where one needed to click to just proceed to the next screen.

While I found the graphics AMAZING I agree with you on this one. Extremely random. This is great it reminds me, I need to get the last two in the series. I remember when I was first wanting to buy Uru they didn't have a MAC version. I'm assuming they do now? I would love to make these sort of games.

They do make the games on MAC, but i guess it URU woudl have been hard to change over to mac? I found URU weird anyway, it didnt feel liek myst. I still loved it, but all the core myst games work on MAC...

i played myst once. it was pretty, and fun, but i didn't have the patience for it. i used a walkthrough pretty much the whole way, after a couple days of pissing around the island, doing not much of anything productive.
