This is not my favorite song, but it is one that I'm really hooked on right now and enjoy a lot.

I don't know; I love a lot of songs.

Yes, Echoes by Pink Floyd is definitely great. Although I must say Canon in D is a close one. I'm going to go for.. Pink Floyd - Echoes though. Time by Pink Floyd is also great.

Aaargh, damn you and your pick one song thing!

Nice Pick Tweak yeah "Echoes" would probably be my number 1 as well. But I'll have to think a little harder to make sure I haven't missed anything. BRB...

I'm happy of the Pink Floyd support here

Echoes is great but personally I'd like to die to
"Shine On You Crazy Diamond."

Oh yes.

Hahaha. Finally watched the Pachelbel rant. Hilarious.

For anyone who loves guitars and Canon in D, watch this. Sooo cool. I'll bet a lot have already seen it, but for those that haven't, enjoy.

Salty Dog by Flogging Molly. Based on the Kesh Jig, traditional Irish stuff.
I could spend all the time in the world trying to come up with the most musically complex and powerful song I know, but why bother. That's the one I enjoy most. 'Specially 'cuz it's about pirates.

That's the way to do it.

If you don't enjoy your favorite song ever more than any other song, something has gone wrong.

I want Echoes to be played at my funeral. My funeral would only last 11 minutes though. There'd be a big sign above the casket: "If you do not enjoy the song being played, leave. kthxbai."

I was looking for that Wish You Were Here cover. I didn't think it could be THAT bad, but then again, Limp Biskit really slaughtered Behind Blue Eyes. And the new lyrics they added.... Uh NO. Violins? NO. It seemed alright before the lyrics started...

Actually, that's exactly what this thread is about...I meant to see what people would choose if they could only pick ONE song to listen to (say you are about to die), and I assume people would pick their favorite song instead of the "best" song, you know? Really, they should be the same song in the way I'm construing "best," which is "what gives you the most pleasure." Obviously, there are other interpretations that might yield different answers, but that's the sense in which I meant it.

I've given this careful consideration, and I have determined it to be "Hocus Pocus" by the Dutch (?) group Focus. One of the few rock songs with yodelling.

My English teacher asked us once what would be the last song we'd listen to if we were about to die. I also said "Shine on you crazy diamond" and my answer is unchanged. It's not actually my favourite song, but it would definitely be the last I'd listen to.

Made up my mind to make a new start,

Going To California with an aching in my heart.

Oh my God! Somebody here has actually heard that? That song is so bad ass! I have it downloaded on my computer, and I listen to it pretty often. Hard rock yodel music, what a brilliant combination. And yes, Focus was a Dutch band. There is a lot of good classic rock that was never that famous in the United States.

:bravo: Wow that was so cool thanks Universal Mind! I really enjoyed that. Imagine being able to see Focus playing Hocus Pocus--the Internet is a wonderful thing. It never occurred to me...you can find anything you want...

P.S. Was that Gladys Knight introducing them?

Yeah, that was Gladys Knight. I don't know what show it was. I never knew Gladys Knight hosted a show. I found it on Youtube. You can find all kinds of stuff there, and I will spend hours at a time searching for things like that. There is stuff on Youtube I thought the world would never see again, but now we can see it.
