      Survival Horror

      What do we think?

I have Silent Hill 1 and 3 and Resident Evil 4.

I must say they are some of the best games I have; although that said they are like the only games I have..

Do we like the genre Dreamviews?

A fun one that reminds me of Dawn of the Dead (but more bubbly) is definately Dead Rising for the 360. My favourite horror ones are the Resident Evil series, bar none.

Resident Evil 4 is definitely one of my favourite games of all time, I mean it has a long ass storyline that took me quite a while to get through, and I still go back and play it, must've beaten it like four or more times now, but it still doesn't get old. Amazingly well done game.

What about SH2? Didn't you like it?

Also, for SH3, three words: The mirror room.

Many bricks were shat. One of the scariest moments I've experienced in a VG.

Mirror room? I'm not there yet.

Scariest moment as of yet was in a that toilet.. where the cubicle knocks back..

      I'm getting SH2 soon

I love Survival Horror. Got most of the Resident Evil's, Silent Hill 2 and 3, F.E.A.R (if that counts ) and Eternal Darkness.

      The mirror room was fun.

Not as scary as the knocking on toilet cubicle though.

      is 2 scarier?

I have Resident Evil Ø, 1, and 4, for Gamecube, and Resident Evil 4 for Wii as well, Resident Evil 4 is quite possibly my favorite game of all the time, I like to hack it (infinite ammo, play as Ashley, etc...) and upload videos to YouTube.

Resident Evil 4 isn't survival horror, it plays nothing like the genre, it's an action game.

Having infinite ammo pretty much defeats the point of survival horror.

True. Resident Evil four in comparison to say, SH3:

Resident evil 4; Pick up the biggest fucking weapon imaginable and use it to explode the heads of numerous villagers whilst jumping out of every window in sight stylishly and flicking your hair. Before blowing more shit up.

Silent Hill 3: Cowering in a corner with a pistol with 3 shots left and a rusty steel pipe. Crying and scared.

Expect to see it someone late summer...they pushed back the release on it (although there was no offical release date for it, they said it might be out in Q1).

Whats that? No mention of system shock 1 or 2? Surely they qualify as survival horror. And while we're at it does anyone remember Alone in the Dark? Not so scary really but you have to love the lovecraftian setting.

Edit: And lets not forget Thief: Deadly Shadow's main redeeming feature "Robbing the Cradle"

Ummm, only like one of the first games in the genre... and chock full of lovecraft referances. Of course it was released way back in '92 so its not like anyone should know about its existance or anything.

There's some survival horror in Resident Evil 4, of course, the normal mode may be a bit too easy to consider it as a survival horror (as you can carry tons of ammo), try professional mode, that's much more difficult as it's really easy to deplete your ammo in a simple boss.

Of course, that can't be compared to the older RE/SH? games in which you shouldn't even waste your ammo on simple enemies.

Yeah, but cheats make the game much more fun after you complete it like 8 times.

It's fun to walk-through walls and play as characters that are not meant for normal gameplay, this way you can really get the best out of the game , you should see what happens when you get Ashley to be in scenes that you're supposed to be Leon, and when you play as that hidden model of Ada without her skirt , the gameplay with certain cheats is even scarier than without cheats, I made some funny videos about this so if you want to watch them just tell me and I'll post the links.
