...What book are you reading? The vampires in the Twilight series do drink blood. All of them do.

And, last time I checked, being able to walk in the sun without dying was more of a strength than a weakness. You don't think a sun-phobic vampire would enjoy being that much more immortal?

Vampyres are suppose to have to trade something when they turn into vampire. Some stories have many different things to make this statement true, insanity, sex, love, etc. This book completely de-romanticizes the character of a vampire to me. Without the bad things being a vampire is no better than being a super hero. Sunlight is supposed to be a symbol of the life they have lost and the triviality of being vampire in the first place.

And they don't just drink blood, they drink animal blood, the bastardized version of blood-feeding.

Indeed, animals ...have..blood too Lewcidius. Shocker, I know.

      ~

I think it's pretty cool that they don't die in the sunlight. It makes it non-cliche in that way, which I love. Anyways, that's just my opinion.

Several of the vampires do that, yes. Such was the sacrifice they made. Maybe being awake 24/7 for the rest of eternity WOULD drive someone a little crazy as well.

Yeah these vampires definitely had some sacrifices. And they're not the first in literature to drink animal blood.

Listen, a "vampire" is not some kind of set concept. It's a fantasy character which can be modified as much as an author wants. So being pissed off that they don't burn in the sunlight is a little silly... A vampire doesn't exist in the first place, so it doesn't make sense to expect certain characteristics to be constant.

^ Exactly what I've been trying to say. Only you worded it better most likely. I get really annoyed when people claim they aren't "real" vampires.

Anyways, something else I didn't like about Breaking Dawn.

I really liked the books and I'm a fan and all that, but I do have some criticisms and things that I dislike about them of course. But I don't think that people should just say, "They suck" and "It's garbage, stupid, etc." if you haven't read them. I mean, I say all that about Harry Potter (i.e. poorly developed characters, deus ex machina, etc.) but I read them. All seven. Basically, I'm saying make an informed decision.

What I think about the casting/upcoming movie:
I have qualms. I think Bella and Edward were cast well, but the rest of the Cullens I'm worried about. (I'll go into more detail if anyone is really interested, just let me know) And from the trailers and scenes that I've seen, the movie looks a little too dark to me. However, I'm still going to get a bunch of my friends together and see it, and I'll probably like it. Maybe. A smidgen.

      The Host:
Loved it! Although I think many of the characters were overly similar to characters in Twilight, I still really enjoyed it. Although is anyone who read the Host familiar with the sci-fi series Stargate SG-1? There were a lot of similarities concerning the plot and the aliens.

I'm wondering if I should give The Host a try? Somehow the little summary thing on the back of the book turned me off... I'm not sure why exactly...

I'd love to hear your opinion on the Cullens. I've only caught glimpses of them thus far. I think Alice looks pretty much like how I imagined her (although the Alice in my imagination was a bit prettier), but that's about it.

This coming from someone who claims other peoples' writing as his own...

I have enjoyed Stephanie Meyers' books. I usually don't like that type of genre, but her style of writing kept me going. As long as I don't over analyze her books, I can enjoy the stories.

Haha. It's really funny because after I read the summary I didn't care to read it either. I was like "uh yeah..our world has been invaded and humans are hosts...k." I wasn't too interested but since it was Stephenie Meyer I did read it. I thought it was pretty cool. And according to her, "A sci-fi book for people who don't like sci-fi."

Haha, that really ruins it doesn't it. Kind of.

I think I now dislike Breaking Dawn to the point where I'm going to pretend Eclipse was the last book. :p

Amazon has some very good reviews.

What pisses me off about the amazon reviews for book 4 is that no one has the imprinting concept down right. They're all like "ewwww" and stuff. Obviously they didn't read correctly.

I never go off of Amazon reviews. Some of those people are just weird, and don't know what they're talking about. To heck with 'em!

Alright, so I read Twilight. I really enjoyed it. Sure, the characters lack a certain something, and there are some unrealistic moments (why does everyone in books always get mad instead of any other emotion? It's like mad is the default "I don't know what emotion fits here, so I'll just toss in..." emotion). Overall, though, I like the concept, and it held my interest. I'm looking forward to the movie.

Casting-wise, I think Kristen Stewart is absolutely perfect. Not so sure about Robert Patinson. And honestly, Peter Facinelli as Carlisle? I'd imagined Alice as more...I duno, cute. Button nose, small, heart-shaped face, pixie-like almost. Not sure about the actress they chose for her. I have no complaints about Esme, Emmet or Jasper. For Rosalie they chose Nikki Reed, who is quite hot. Brunette, though, which makes it odd, because her hair will be dyed. Also, why do Edward and Emmet have huge mop-hair?

Yeah...anyway, I look forward to reading the rest. I could only find Twilight in my library, the rest were checked out. They don't have Breaking Dawn yet, but they do have New Moon and Eclipse.

Yeah the only casting choices I agree with are the ones for Edward and Bella. I like the actress who plays Esme, but I pictured someone way more beautiful. But I'm biased because I remember her from Grey's Anatomy, and that face of hers was supposed to be a reconstructed version after a big car accident. So I always think of reconstruction jobs when I see her.

I might as well. I want to humor my friend who enjoys the books. That and Cedrick Diggory is Edward.

I guess that doesn't give me time to ry and get through the books, does it?
