The Promotion was awesome, I don't know how it didn't get a wide release, especially considering it was John C. Reilly and Seann William Scott in the lead with Jenna Fischer as a supporting actor.
Charlie Bartlett was pretty good, I was tempted to call it a Ferris Bueller rip-off because, well, because it was. But at the same time it was fresh, and funny and Robert Downey Jr. was splendid as the principal.
City of Ember I haven't yet seen(only because I didn't know it was out already), but I picked up the book on a Friday night and I finished it by 4am the next morning. Very engrossing. I love me some Bill Murray. Even if you don't see the movie, read the book(I have to find the sequels and get to reading).
Choke was great, it didn't quite do the book justice, but it's next to impossible to do so with Chuck Pahlaniuk's writing style, it just can't be transferred to film easily. However it was funny and sad and dirty and deep. Both the book and the movie are highly recommended.
Let The Right One In was the only Vampire movie out this year that was worth seeing. Fuck Twilight.
American Teen was alright. The biggest qualm I had with it was I don't believe it's really a documentary. I don't think there has ever been such clear-cut-cliques like there are in the film. I just don't buy it. However, I rewatched it as a mockumentary and I really enjoyed it.
Taken was, for lack of a better word, amazing. Liam Neeson was so bad ass, and it was quite a believable story as well.
The Wackness was great, Josh Peck was terrific and so was Ben Kingsley. The soundtrack was probably my favorite part of the movie though. Throwback to mid-90s East-coast rap... brought back memories for every song I heard.
Young People Fucking, Man on Wire, Nick & Norah, Baghead, Hamlet 2, Ping Pong Playa, Son of Rambow and The Fall are all on my computer waiting for me to watch.
The Escapist isn't available to watch yet, so only critics and film festival attendees have seen it.
