Techno and Metal are my favorite types of music. The problem is that I can't seem to find very much good techno, but I can find oodles of good metal everywhere. I've tried asking people if they like techno. They say yes. Then they link me to some repetitive crap they label as "AWESOME!"
Give me your best shot, DV! Dump all the "good" techno right here in this thread!
Repetitiveness is sometimes the fun part about techno, try looking for more progressive stuff, keep interested in it, you'll love it.
I've been waiting for this thread my whole life.
FIRST OFF
Pendulum, classic mainstream drum and bass, often wordless, never meaningless.
Pendulum - Girl in a fire
Pendulum - The tempest
I love both equally, but I feel Epic while listening to tempest.
Not really techno, (drum and bass) but still awesome enough to be mentioned.
Crystal castles, TRUE techno, nice vocals, a choppy feel, 'bounce to the music' kinda thing.
Crystal castles - Untrust us
Crystal castles - xxzxczx me
Crystal castles - Crimewave (LAZRtag remix)
Untrust us, a good intro for crystal castles, I found the song today. :3
Crimewave was the first song I heard by CC, it still has a special place in my heart because of it.
Ghostland observatory, shit yea. DuB introduced me to this band, by posting the link in chat in a way that reminded me of a rickroll, I cant help but think this has to be the most horridly awesome music in existence. Enjoy.
Ghostland observatory - Vibrate
Ghostland observatory - Sad sad city
Honey lets VIBRATE!!!! A song so ridiculous, it deserves 4 exclemation points, my first Ghostland song, I still sometimes post it in chat as a sort of spontaneous instabonah.
Sad sad city only accompanies vibrate, none the less, lovely.
Faithless, only one song I really like, but it's still amazing, the voice is mesmerizing.
Faithless - Insomnia
Air
Air - sexy boy
Nothing
Venetian snares, introduced to me by the one and only Carou, love at first listen.
Venetian snares - Szamár Madár
Venetian snares - Hajnal
Venetian snares - Children's limbo
Children's limbo is a mindfuck all by itself, I cant stop listening, seriously, help.
The other two are just amazing, words fail my ears.
Chemical brothers
Chemical brothers - Get yourself high
A kind of 'head bobbing' music, I cant dance to this, just tapping my foot over and over back and forth, I never get tired of it. :3
Aphex twin
[ytUw7TY-zPaas[/yt]
Aphex twin - Ageispolis
EVERYONE knows Aphex twin, classic old time techno. There are times when I wish I had speakers for walls, just for this song.
Blue stahli
Blue stahli - scrape
Fantastic song, tis a one man band I found from...
Celldweller. Holy shit yes.
Celldweller - Birthright (birthwrong remix by blue stahli)
Electronic music is based on a large array of incredibly versatile electronic instruments, not on a common style, rhythm, pattern, scale or anything like that. Asking for good electronic music is like asking for "good band music" or "good singing music"... it goes anywhere from blues to classic to thrash. So we can't really help you.
I'd suggest just listening to different online radio stations to get an idea of what type of electronica you like. I prefer industrial, IDM, house, dubstep... it might be different for you so... just listen to different stuff.
Not all of this is "techno" persay, but you said electronic as well, which is more what I'm into. And I know I post about the same bands alot, but alas...
Boards Of Canada - usually more down-tempo, but great dreaming music. Isolee - more fast-paced, more along the lines of what someone would stereotypically label as "techno" The Books - music made by layering field-recordings and soundclips from tv and radio, with the addition of a cello. the album Lost And Safe is my favorite, it's a concept album about a man that lives his whole life isolated on a mountain, then comes down to view modern society for the first time Caribou (aka Manitoba) - my favorite, very eclectic electronic music, each cd has a different feel (my favorite is Manitoba's Start Breaking My Heart, or Caribou's The Milk Of Human Kindness), for an introduction, try the songs Hendrix With Ko, or Mammals vs. Reptiles by Manitoba, or Subotnick by Caribou M83 - also great dreaming music, this band sounds a lot like flying through outerspace Team Sleep - the more mellow/electronic Deftones sideproject Pelican - not techno at all, but if you like slightly-spacey metal (especially the kind without words), this is tops Ride - down-tempo shoegaze, try the album Nowhere Hum - not techno either, but one of the most overlooked bands of the 90's, this band makes a lot of references to outer space; some consider it spacerock, some call it shoegaze, i just call it good. Treewave - music made by layering computer/video game noises, last I checked there were free mp3's on their website
I wish I could think of more but I have to cut this short for the time being.
Man, I've been meaning to get back to this thread for awhile. Some of this music you've guys posted is good, and some of it is terrible IMO. I think my style of techno is more of NIN style and Darude. Without the lyrics, however, NIN would be passable for me.
Here's a couple of songs from each artist which I am quite fond of.
