Thread: Killzone 2

I never finished the first KZ, but I really liked it, although I wasn't too good at FPS shooters on the console.

I'll give this a try sometime.

To the third level.

Then the graphics stopped making me go "omg!" and I realized it would've been amazing, three years ago. With Left 4 Dead, Bioshock, Chronicles of Riddick, and so many other great first person shooters, Killzone 2 fell short and I am disgusted.

Gameplay > Graphics

How was the gameplay?

After the graphics took their initial hit, I realized that the gameplay was garbage.

So the graphics just distracted you until you realized what the storyline was like...

If you didn't like the gameplay in kz2 you must have a missing part of your head, or you suck at aiming.

Please don't take amazeo's opinion to heart, the gameplay is VERY enjoyable and solid, not 'garbage'

Also, amaze, try completing a game before bashing it, playing 3 levels and not even playing the multiplayer is a sorry excuse to give a game a bad review.

If any fps is 'garbage' its fear and fear 2.

Riddick is a good game also but in my personal experience is way less fun then killzone, bioshock was amazing but surely let me down with its lack of multiplayer so i was extremely dissapointed.


Left 4 Dead was great for about 3 months before it became endlessly repetetive, i love valve but they sure didn't succeed in re-playability.

I've put about 48 hours of play time into killzone 2 and I will say this as plainly as I can.

I'm thoroughly addicted to killzone 2, I love the guns the gameplay, the flow.. the sounds are incredible, its also great to unlock all of the goodies in multiplayer, and its fun to be able to play custom mp3's ingame.

And not to mention the eye popping graphics.


Oh yea sure amaze, its a garbage game

Oh god I love feeling half the size of the other enemies, the controls are like having sex with a dolphin, and the game is so repetitive. Sure, the graphics are nice.

The story has been done before, and the gameplay is all shoot, move to the next place, shoot, move to the next place.

The multiplayer is so mediocre because of the controls. Plus it's just not good online. Bioshock let you have guns, melee weapons, plasmids, and an awesome storyline.

Killzone 2 you might as well just use your assault rifle the whole time. And it wasn't 3 levels. It was the first 4 full chapters.

Now, you like the game. That's your opinion. But don't be like.. "oh amaze has no idea what he's talking about."

Simply put, the game was hyped so much, and then what came out at the end was mediocre. Just play Resistance 2. It's much better, and way more fun.

Sorry but I just totally disagree and I think your nuts but i still love you lol..

The controls feel off because of the weighted aim, helghan is a huge planet so it has more gravity, hence the struggle to jump and move a heavy gun, after a few hours of gameplay you get used to it and its just fine, for some its too much because of some odd reason, but know this, people who don't like this game are in the extreme minority

The reviews killzone 2 has received are great, gamepot is picky and even they gave it a 9 and many MANY other reviewers had the same good things to say.

I just feel bad for who doesn't enjoy it because the amount of joy this game brings me is just incredible, I can't play resistance 2 anymore because it annoys and bores me in comparison to kz2.

The thing which pisses me off the most about resistance 2 is how using cover is nearly useless, same goes for resistance 1, a stupid bullsye energy thing always manages to hit me even though i hide behind a huge ass wall or sandbags.

The cover system in killzone 2 actually works incredibly, unlike resistance.

Also you mentioned that all kz2 is run shoot cover shoot move, well...so is every other shooter since quake 1... whats your point?

Call of duty 1-5 was shoot move shoot blow stuff up

So was half-life 1 and 2...and so was resistance 1 and 2 and halo 1-3....every shooter is shoot and move, I don't find that a valid complaint against kz2...

Also the multiplayer in my opinion is awesome, you can unlock abilities such as sentry guns aerial support, medic, medpacks, invisibility....etc

And you can unlock 2 machine guns, an smg, a shotgun a sniper rifle and more....

Like i said before, its all a matter of opinion and personal taste...I just didn't like resistance 2 that much, and killzone 2 struck a chord with me so powerful its hard for me to play any other game now.

In Half-life 2, you were fighting new enemies in new areas, and there was a valid story line. There were also different sections that required you to think in different ways. Plus there was a handful of puzzle solving and the physics engine for the gravity gun was revolutionary.

... Killzone 2 is just a mediocre shooter with pretty graphics. The storyline is meh, there's barely anything besides shooting guys. What fun is that?

To me its fun, other then that I can't say much more then we have different opinions.

1 thing which REALLY grinds my gears about resistance and pretty much every other shooter is that no matter how many of your teamates are fighting the enemy, as soon as you pop your players head out the enemy forgets the 12 soldiers firing at them, and they all seem to go for the player, and not the teamates. in killzone 2, the enemy actually goes after your teamates even if you decide to fire back, they don't all seem to hone in on the main player, which to me is VERY fair and is great.

Call of duty games or other 'teamate' games are just horse shit in my opinion, in 1 part of call of duty world at war, i had about 20 russian squadmates firing at the enemy, i pop my head up for 1 second and the whole fucking german army homes in on me and forgets about my comrades ripping them a new hole.

Resistance 1 and 2 had this problem and its so godamn annoying

Also, the AI in most games suck, the AI in killzone 2 however is extraordinary...the enemy is ALWAYS doing something I never expect or predict, they are never in the same spots and they are never doing the same thing, if you shoot at them they take cover until you stop firing.

No other game sports that ai, not half-life 2 nor riddick or resistance 2.

Also, no other fps sports a perfect cover system like killzones.

To me killzone is grade a perfect fps gaming, I don't care much for story when im taking on armies of soldiers.

Sure, resistance 2 has a neat storyline and all but the way the game plays is just not as fun or enjoyable as killzones experience for me personally im in love.
