Playstation 3

I just bought a Playstation 3 on a whim. I'm a little impulsive, sometimes. The problem is, now I don't have any games for it, and don't know what to do with it. What do you guys suggest?

I used to love old school video games, but have been out of the loop for a while. I have a DS and a wii. I really only play strategy games and old school sequels on the gameboy. A little pokemon, Final Fantasy Tactics, or castlevania. Maybe some zelda. I don't ever play the wii.

I'm looking for a game that has a lot of depth. Maybe a little RPG "level up" type flavor. I've never been too into army-man first person shooters, zombie horror games, or anything set too much in the real world.

What are the "must have" titles, in your opinion?

I don't know a lot about the PS3 and it's games...

I'm not sure if you'd like MGS4, but I'd suggest renting the game first if you're really wary about it. Or, if you do buy it, and don't like it, you can mail the PS3 and MGS4 to me :V

I'd like that.

I've heard people say MGS4 is one of the best games ever made. I'll give it a shot.

I just assumed there were more good games for the system. It seems like pickings are fairly slim. Hasn't this thing been around for 3 years, now? Where are the blockbusters? I guess I'm just spoiled with the DS's library.

I don't have an xbox360, either, so cross platform games still count.

CoD : WaW , Prototype and GTA4 are not worth buying on PS3.

Metal Gear Solid 4 is a must.
If you like shooters : Killzone 2 is pretty fun online.
Try Eternal Sonata and Folklore.

MGS4 for sure, Fallout 3 is also a definite must-have if you like RPG games at all, it's one of my favourites for sure, and the only video game I've been able to play for like 6-8 consecutive hours before getting bored. LittleBigPlanet was pretty sweet when I first got it, I haven't played it much since. CoD:WaW is also pretty sweet, really fun online, even though you say you don't care for first-person army shooters or whatever, it's at least worth a try. GTA4 is awesome, Prototype is awesome. Resident Evil 5 is also really sweet, but a good deal shorter than RE4 was. Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection is also awesome if you're into old school games, it's like more than 40 titles of old school Sega games. Also, I really enjoyed Warhawk when I first got it, me and my friends killed that game for a good two months or so online before getting sick of it.

I couldn't get into Little Big Planet. The only games I really play are Civ Revolution and Bioshock. Oblivion is a great game but you can only get limited expansions for it on the PS3 so I only recommend that game for the XBox

I don't own it, so I wouldn't know if I like it or not. If I said a game was good and don't have experience with the game, It defetes the purpose of telling him good games. How do you know a game is awesome until you have played it? Just because the reviews are good don't mean that won't like the lack of multiplayer, or the graphics, or whatever.

No one has mentioned Infamous. Have you guys played that? It looks like all the reviewers think its better than Prototype.

Infamous is probably a title you should check out, and an exclusive. I myself have not played it but it is definately worth renting at least.

Really? I thought Oblivon GOTY (Game of the year) for the 360 had the same official mods than Oblivion GOTY for the PC. I can't find anything that the 360 version had and the PC one didn't. Anyways, you can only get unofficial mods on the pc version, and a lot of those are way better that the official ones. As seen here.

I have it, but I can't play it since it starts off slow

My comparison is Prototype, which is like holy fuck action the second you start playing. I would suggest InFamous, too, though, I am ashamed.

I have Oblivion and Fallout 3 and enjoy both of them a lot. They're very similar (made by the same company). Both are open-word RPGs.

I haven't played it, but I've been told Sacred 2 is really fun if your into stuff like Diablo. You might like Valkyria Chronicles if you're looking for a strategy RPG, but I personally never played it--I'm just saying that based on reviews. Folklore is another well-rated RPG, but again, I haven't played it (I did very briefly play the demo).

And speaking of demos, do you have the internet set up on the PS3? If so, just go on the PS3 store and download some free demos. You won't find a demo for every game, but it'll definitely help decide on a few. Also, I like looking at IGN because they have a lot of nice video reviews.
