How they held there guns was more impractical, You would think that the movie
been set so far in the future, that the guns would shoot what the person was looking
at, and not have to hold there hands like they were holding a real gun.

      It's this one...

      2010-01-07 Featurette 480p 720p 1080p

If you can play HD, get the 720p or 1080p one. If not, go for the 480p one.

EDIT: The top of the list is the newest video, and the bottom is the oldest.

I have heard it is now projected to be one of the best selling movies of all time. I saw it and I just have to say it was fantastic even if you hate the plot you will be taken away by the scenery.

I watched it again with my older sister (a graphic designer and future printer) and she was blown away. This is from an artist. She said "It is the best movie ever." "If it doesn't get best visuals, there is something wrong with the panel." and "The best thing about it is that the story is simple; there isn't a whole lot of extra crap that you don't need to know about mixed in." I think that maybe, just maybe, she adored it.

For me, I was floored just as much as the first time. The things you notice the second time around, but not the first, are amazing. I could seriously watch it several more times. I REALLY hope that the DVD has 3D capability. It just wouldn't be the same without it. (BTW, this time, the ash 'snow' made me blink a few times instinctively, as if to wash out the cinders. O.o >.< o.O) LOVED IT. I WANT IT. James. You did it again. The technical side of this movie could actually revolutionize the movies.

Signature by Kexo, Avatar by itschemistry (Thanks!)

Sometimes I wonder if anyone has really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like.

I thought might add my two cents.

There's this ride at my local theme park called the 'Motion Master'. It's a simulator/3D movie thingy. You pretty much get strapped into a seat and move around in accordance to what ever happens on the screen.

It lasts all but 3 minutes and at the end of it NO ONE forms a discussion group to analyse the use of chiaroscuro lighting, the meaning of the pilot's name, the symbolic merit of the alien's cat, the dialogue, the plot etc etc. Because frankly no one cares. We came for the experience, for the chance to play pretend. For pure escapism.

      For me that's Avatar.

As a film it was fun, good fun. But imo nothing special. As an experience it was mindblowing.

Like going on the Motion Master for the first time as a kid, Avatar is a ride I'll never forget

The plot was O.K., but nothing really special IMO. I saw what was coming from a mile away. The visuals are amazing, but I don't think the visuals alone will be enough to make this movie stand the test of time. After all, lots of movies are now going to have these visuals. I think it's safe to label this movie as shallow.

      I was unimpressed.

The movie is shallow because it lacks that which it did not need?

Beautiful, in every way, and I don't care to over-analyze it.

It's shallow because it relies almost completely off special effects. Without the visuals, it would have been every movie ever made.

As one reviewer put it, "If you want to avoid some of the problems with it, just make sure to turn your brain off upon arrival and let your senses lead you."

      1. When did god dictate the standards for what is a good movie?

      2. The strong point of the film isn't the effects. It's the themes and sci-fi concepts involved, the special effects come into play indirectly as a factor required to present this film.

my thoughts almost exactly. its not like this 3d thing is something new. i honestly wasnt impressed with it. go to honey i shrunk the audience and you will see little difference in the 3d.
imo the film accomplishes the simple task of entertaining.

I was going to see it today, but my dad didn't buy the tickets last night like I suggested, and they were sold out for the 2 showtimes we could make

I'm probably going to see it next weekend, as I refuse to see it outside of IMAX 3D

The film has grossed 1.3 billion dollars world-wide now. It is actually closing up on Titanic.

I hope it does overtake Titanic. It was much better than that movie, that's for sure.

Does that mean it beat The Dark Knight? I really like Titanic, but I would be ok with Avatar being the new box office king. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and due to the discussions we've had in this thread, I've come to appreciate it a lot more.

That's cool that you appreciate it a lot more now.

World wide it has beaten The Dark Night, But if you are going by
movies in the USA only, it's 5th. But it'll easily get to 2nd in the USA.

Here's all the money information about it: http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=avatar.htm
