Exclamation Project Natal Xbox 360 - Controller free gaming system

Project Natal (pronounced [naˈtal], nah-tahl) is the code name for a "controller-free gaming and entertainment experience" by Microsoft for the Xbox 360 video game platform. Based on an add-on peripheral for the Xbox 360 console, Project Natal enables users to control and interact with the Xbox 360 without the need to touch a game controller through a natural user interface using gestures, spoken commands, or presented objects and images. The project is aimed at broadening the Xbox 360's audience beyond its typically hardcore base. Project Natal was first announced on June 1, 2009 at E3 2009. Microsoft said that over a thousand software development kits began shipping to game developers that same day.
Though Microsoft has not officially announced any price or release date projections for Project Natal, it is expected to be released in late 2010. Project Natal will reportedly also serve as the basis for a "new" Xbox 360.

      Don't be so bitter, Tars.

Btw, that Milo thing blew me away when I first saw it a while ago.

It's hard to know how much of it is scripted though, I mean, would they have set up the topics of conversation earlier or was it totally improvised? If you were really able to talk to Milo without bounds or limitations, I'd be impressed! He would need to be programmed how to form sentences by putting different words together without sounding like Stephen Hawking, and how to use tone/emphasis. -And all in response to something said by a person and understood by the machine. I didn't think that kind of AI technology exists yet...

Well, they said in other videos that there were more than one person to try it. This would suggest it was improvised (at least for the human), and I'm guessing what Milo would do is change the subject to something programmed there, so that there would be something to talk about which he knows what to say and do.

And they also said that Milo can recognise different tones in voice so that he "knows" the person's emotion, and is therefore able to reply in the suitable way. And to make his tone of voice correct (not sound like Stephen Hawking) would probably be to do with audio editors that change the frequency etc of the voice.
