      Voyage of The Dawn Treader

I was pretty excited when I went to see Toy Story 3 the other day, and also got to see the teaser to The Voyage of The Dawn Treader (The next Narnia movie)

The Narnia series has always been very important to me. The books, and the movies.

It was the first book series I ever read, and this movie is particularly important to me because it was my favorite of the books.

Evidence says this should be different than Caspian for a number of reasons:

      1. No Disney - yup, Disney's dropped Narnia. They were a little anxious about the budget of this film, and they've left it to Fox. This seems good to me. Not sure why, but now that Disney's greedy paws are off the films, it seems better.

2.New director - this could be either good or bad. I thought Andrew Adamson did a terrific job on The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe, but something happened to him when he made Caspian. Let us hope Michael Apted will retain the magic of Narnia.

3.I have hope because of something producer Mark Johnson said:

I really hope this one won't be a disappointment. I'm somewhat skeptical due to the inclusion of the White Witch again, who died (and never came back) two books earlier, not to mention that Peter and Susan (who were not allowed to enter Narnia after Prince Caspian) also make a brief appearance in the trailer.

I am hopeful, however, due to the fact that this movie seems to be more about Narnia and it's book than about war and stuff.

I hope they don't make a movie of the last one, because the way it ended was sudden and made me feel bitter about the book.

Well shellyboof bishop isn't going to let you over-egg this pudding!

Well, I agree to an extent. I thought, although it was sad, it was a beautiful way to end it. Remember what C.S Lewis was trying to accomplish by writing the Narnia series. I think it worked.

The movies aren't going to be shot in chronological order, they will be shot in the order that they were written. Meaning, the last movie they should make is The Magicians Nephew.

Magician's Nephew was the worst of the books, though. Bad note to end on.

And I know they will likely screw up on the 'Horse and His Boy' book. (My favorite.) This trailer is evidence of it. They still insist on throwing in characters that should have left the series. Hollywood is like Marvel and hates letting go of profitable characters. And the Horse and His Boy is (almost) void of recognizable characters. At least as main characters.

Really? It was one my favorites.

My least favorite was Horse and His Boy (when I read it anyways, which was a long time ago). I think you might be right. They could really ruin that one.

I just thought that it was needlessly slow, is all. And there wasn't as much character development as the others.

I haven't read them in a while. My opinion on the best might change if I read them again.

I like the ORIGINAL Narnia movies, not this new fangled Disney stuff.

You mean the BBC television series? Yeah, I've not seen those. Twenty seconds of it, and I immediately turned it off. I should have probably given it more of a chance.

I really don't see what wasn't to like about the first Disney Narnia film, as far as adaptation goes. It followed the book almost exactly, and it's visuals were really excellent. The battle sequence was really memorable as well. I liked it, but your mileage may vary.

I also have fond memories of an animated version (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079474/) of The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe.
