Most of the video is pretty questionable (I know about the 'wayward missile' explanations for Norway, and about the lanterns that hover in the sky like balloons), but what I want to know is, what the Hell are:

Third thought: but seriously I'm scared now, another sleepless night for me

I am glad that ufo pictures has finally caught up with the rest of the world, and we can actually get some interesting pictures of them, instead of just little dots on the screen. What would be cool, is if they are pictures of rare natural phenomenons. If you think about it, there has always been reports of strange things, pretty much forever. Now, we have so many people on the planet, and so many with cameras that we may be seeing things that has always happened but has been limited to the rare few who happened to be in the area at the time.

A good example would be like ball lightning, which people don't know about. Some of them could be that. And if that swirling picture was actually like a tiny black hole which flew through the atmosphere that would be bad ass. Some people believe tiny black holes fly through earth all the time, the idea of them actually doing it and leaving proof behind would be truly amazing. Now I am not convinced it was any thing of the sort, but similar type of rare natural events would be cool. If they are I am sure we will start to figure out and maybe, maybe even be able to study them in the future.

What I don't think it is, is alien life. I am not really sure why aliens would zip around the planet, showing off all the time and not bother to actually contact us. It really doesn't matter how advance they may be, they should still want to talk to us. I mean even humans try to communicate with stupid animals out of curiosity. I don't see why they would lack all interest in talking to us, yet at the same time be very interested in flying around our planet.

Unless of course they have a truly sinister plan, and they are trying to be covert in their evil activities, and yet despite their advance technology, still suck at it. So I am leaning towards some of them being man made, and some of them being natural events.

Just so you know.. presupposing aliens or extra-dimensional beings have made contact.. we still wouldn't know about it. SETI (government program that monitors alien activity) has protocols to follow and one that sicks out the most from memory is that if contact is made or signals have been picked up, to first alert the US government and let THEM decide on what to do with the information. Contact could have been made decades ago for all we know and the government could be withholding information about it.

Think about it. The likelier scenario is probably the correct one. The government saying aliens exist and that we've been contacted would rock the very foundations of our planet.. most noticeable effects would of course spew from our religious institutions. Therefore the government won't say shit. Say that the Catholic church knew that aliens existed or that the government was in the process of making plans for disclosure.. wouldn't you think the church would try to preempt them to get a handle on what may spill out so that it wouldn't rock the core of the peoples faith too much?

If I can take crack at it...

The first one is tough because there are only pictures. It's at night so they may be long exposures that mess with the image. It looks to me either like a powerful spotlight that's illuminating a spot in the air or maybe a helicopter in the air that's illuminating a fixed spot on the ground (the streak may be due to the long exposure).

I'm nearly positive that the second one is a high altitude rocket/missile. You can even see what appears to be a second stage firing.

The Jerusalem one looks like nothing man-made. I'm suspecting some kind of video trickery. A quick google search comes up with an overwhelming amount of "hoax" claims...

The thing with the long trail looks like another high altitude rocket/missile.

The California one looks like skydivers with pyrotechnics. They start off in a free fall and when the chute opens they start floating around. Some videos of that kind of stuff on youtube, quite cool.

The Russia one looks like another rocket/missile. You can see what appears to be another 2nd stage firing at the beginning. Hard to tell what's going on because of the camera/angle zooming, but the trail looks like a typical man-made rocket.

What else you got ?

The Australia one has been explained as being a spinning American rocket that passed over their east coast. Could that explain the other spiraling UFOs?

The Jerusalem one is a hoax.

As for the others, maybe they're caused by some sort of meteor?

I kind of thought the Jerusalem was a hoax, just because of the location of it. There is only like 3 or 4 different images. So if you can explain 3 of them, you already pretty much shown they weren't anything.

The last part is obviously a hoax(or the guy is crazy, he did say he was kicked out for medical reasons). If an alien is advanced enough to move between dimensions, there isn't anything we are going to do to stop them from wiping out everyone in a day. I doubt they need to infiltrate anything hehe.

Can't even say it's a UFO, just looks like a really bizarre effect. One must wonder what that blue "projector" looking light is coming from behind the mountain.

But yeah, I'm aware of the Norwegian UFO being explained away as a wayward rocket, but I'm not sure how much I believe the assertion. Though I could understand how a malfunctioning rocket could spiral like that, it does look - at times - like it has two spiral arms, instead of one, which would not be possible for a rocket.

Also, Spart, do you have any links to videos showing high altitude rockets that create the kind of effect that's in the - seemingly dual-stage - UFO thingy clips?

As for the skydivers/pyrotechnics, I could see how that might explain that one, particular clip. This almost looks like the same effect:


Not quite the same, imho, but it at least lends credence to the explanation.

Couldn't find any videos, most official (ex. NASA) vids follow the rocket very closely so you can't see the trail...

In the photograph I posted, why is each subsequent loop of the spiral equally spaced from the other? Wouldn't the ejected mass be decelerating, making the spirals further out from the craft look much closer together?

It doesn't help your case when you get the first fact wrong, SETI is a not-for-profit non-governmental organisation.

Why much closer? That's a qualitative statement. If the fuel were flying outward pretty fast, which presumably it would be, the deceleration would not have much of an effect whilst visible.

It looks like the loops of the spiral are visible pretty far out from the craft. I just figured that if the fuel was being ejected within Earth's atmosphere it would be subject to drag and slow down the further it got from the alleged rocket, making each further spiral ring look closer to the next, if that makes sense. Anyways, I think this should be an easy thing to reproduce and verify if it is what the news agencies said it is. The spiral is also perfectly symmetrical, which makes it looks like it was launched from (or to) the position of the person taking the photograph, unless it was launched from the mountains and guided to turn such that it would line up with the Norwegian town. Hope I'm not wording this too vaguely.

Except it wasn't really in the atmosphere... You don't have to go all that high up before air density becomes negligible.

The official report said that the missile failed in its third stage, so I'm guessing it was 100+ km.

I really doubt the government would try to hide it, and all the aliens would have to do is show a broadcast on tv or radio and everyone would hear it. Lets say aliens really did want to contact earth, why would they only contact a select few governments officials? They could just as easily tell everyone, and if they are flying around all over, it is in their benefit to tell everyone.

Besides scientists would blab all about it, and the government isn't even in charge of many of the projects for trying to find alien life. As Xei pointed out about SETI, its a non-profit group, not a high security military group. If they find something everyone would know the next day.
