The media who seems to spend all their time acting like Ron Paul doesn't exist are now saying they think he will win Iowa. Any one who was sitting on the side lines because they believed the people who said he doesn't have any chance, need to start jumping in now because he has a real shot to win the nomination. Especially if he takes first in Iowa and New Hampshire.

Why did you put this in Extended Discussion? The point of your OP is basically "spread the word about this presidential campaign thing". Please stop mistaking ED for the Lounge / free advertising.

More smear articles are being produced regarding those "racist" newsletters from 20 years ago. Despite being thoroughly debunked, people like Andy Ostroy from HuffPo pump out textual diarrhea like this: Andy Ostroy: What Our Young Folks Need to Know About Ron Paul. It's hilarious to witness.

Post comments on that article endorsing racism, under the name of Andy Ostroy.

He seems to be doing that himself actually.

It was meant to be a thread about Ron Paul but lolk, I'll be sure to put more thought into the OP next time.

Politics is supposed to go on the extended forum, and any time you post about Ron Paul you usually get long discussions because what he says is really important, and serious for this country.

Well each candidate that "rose and fell" rose and fell within 4-6 weeks. With two weeks to Iowa, another to New Hampshire, I think he will have a good enough lead to STAY fist/fist against Romney. The "racist newsletter" controversy is a non-story that is really the only thing they have against Ron Paul, along with the "earmark controversy" (which is saying something big: There is virtually nothing against him.)

I very much like when libertarian candidates become seriously well-known, although I'm disappointed that Gary Johnson is switching out to be the LP candidate this year; he should have just stuck it out and realized he was going to get ALL of Ron Paul's supporters in 2016, as well as any pro-marijuana, pro-gay marriage, "Upset with the same old politicians" disgruntled Democrats... But hey, if he wants to be the LP candidate, so be it.

We shall see how things turn out, but I'm feeling confident that Iowa will make the right choice.

If he actually were inaugurated, the headlines that day would read: "Is Ron Paul serious about becoming President?"

Stefan Molyneux would say that if Ron Paul is doing well, that means the US must be about to collapse and they want to have the pro-freedom guy in charge when it does. That way they can blame freedom and free markets for the collapse, rather than the tyrannical state.

The GOP would be supporting him if they thought it was about to collapse, in that case. It seems more like they just don't like him, because he's not a bought politician. They wouldn't like opposition, and therefore don't care for him.

Regardless, I think it's time after a century of government-growing Presidents, we can handle a single term of a government-shrinking or at-the-least-halting President. So much useless bureaucracy.

Of course, the Left will make the case (as they always do) that NOW is the time we need a big government the most, and that our utopian fantasies of smaller government can wait until after the (perpetual) crisis.

Not just the Left. The Right will also say we need to bolster our defence by invading Iran. Their one (unfinished) nuke is a serious threat... The stars below are US military bases.

Yes, yes, they are a threat to us, and they have NO RIGHT to want to protect themselves. (But seriously, I'm just glad a candidate is addressing Social Security seriously. It's not that hard to see that it WILL NOT WORK in 10 years. It was a good idea... but then they ran out of new employees to support retirees. Paul wants to offer an opt-out for 25 and under... and I would really very much like to be one of those opt-outs. I'm not getting involved in that broken system.)

      Specifically the Right.

Only if by "Right" you mean the statists, not libertarians.

Statism is not left or right, and neither is libertarianism.

This chart I do appreciate, because it's impossible to place anyone either just left or just right.
