First off - I am not sure where this should go - it is an article in Scientific American - but starts out about somebody going into a 3-month meditation retreat and spans very much territory afterwards.
Going into the scientific history of what has been thought and found about the function of several modes of down-time, not only sleep or dreams..
There are very many links going off from the article too - I am yet to follow them all..
