You're mind works in very bizarre ways, cmind. You intrigue me ever so much. .-.
You say "you" as if I was a feminist; I've no commitment to the ideology. As for the intellectual vs. militant thing, lolwut?
No ideological movements works the way that you seem to believe that it it does. You start with one one large umbrella of an ideology with numerous strains - each with different sub-goals and strategies for achieving them. Some focus on economics, some focus on political concessions, some want society to reconsider our historical record and fill in the gaps, and some use intimidation, coercion, and force. No one group is responsible for the other, nor should it be. The Black Capitalists weren't responsible for the for Black Socialists any more than the NAACP or the Black Muslims was responsible for the Black Panther Party For Self-Defense back in the 1960's. If at any point in time one group denounces another, it's purely for the sake of advancing their own agenda while discrediting the legitimacy of the other. In other words, to hijack a social movement and push it through a filter of their own design. It's done so for personal gain, nothing more.
If a group of extremists calls in a bomb threat, why is it necessary for a group of moderates to call a press conference simply to say something along the lines of, "Their actions don't have anything to do with us." It should be self-evident to the sensible, only the reactionaries would confuse the two. Those reactionaries are of the same ilk who have created a situation where moderate Muslims in America have to constantly go out and say, "We agree, those extremists are nuts. Now please stop lumping us all together." Or why law-abiding Black Americans are constantly asked inane questions about why they don't do something about so-called "Black on Black crime."
