The Transgender Tipping Point Time Magazine

It is finally happening, Acceptance is finally coming for us in the Trans community. Time magazine has featured Laverne Cox from the show Orange is the new Black on the cover of the next Time Magazine.

I honestly can say I cried for a while after I found this out, tears of joy and tears of the possibilities in the future for humanity as a whole, if people can finally learn to accept each other for what they are then this is truly an exciting time to be alive in the world.

I would just like to share this with all of you here <3 .

There is definitely a movement for everyone to be more accepting. Especially among younger people who are more accepting than ever, of nearly everything. Things are slow to change some times due to older people and established group trying to hold onto power, but even they are weakening in their grip. I think overall things will continue to keep improving.

There is a lot of push back from people who are trying to resist change, but they keep losing. Legally people promoting equal rights are winning nearly all the court battles. In the media there is overwhelming support too. For example if you call someone who is transgender a fag or something, nearly all the mainstream media will jump all over you. I am sure people who are openly transgender get a lot of shit at times but they are definitely seen as more socially acceptable than people who are openly bigoted.

We just got to keep at it, and I think there is a lot of reasons to be positive.

I don't have much to say other than this is great! I've always wanted everyone to be accepted, regardless of who they are. Everyone deserves to be who they want to be and it only makes sense that we should all be equal. I really am glad to hear about this article!

Love this quote!!! I may have to use this!

When I first started on Dream Views I was ecstatic that they had a transgender option!!! It made me feel so much more welcome. Then I thought maybe I should use the male status anyway because I don't want people to be confused and because trans isn't a gender and I am a male. Finally, I decided to go with the trans logo. I decided it was more important for me to be a face for the trans community. I want people to see me around here and realize that they "know" a trans person. I want people to think, "Wow, Eamon is trans and he's also nice, and smart, and funny, etc." At least I hope they think that, lol. Anyway, my point is I think that the media is doing a great job at helping us but I think it does more for people to interact with us on a personal level.
(Still wish I could specify FTM though... )

I am glad. I do not understand, personally, why somebody would wish to be something they are not and never will be, because they are beautiful to me, but if it makes them happy, and in the process others are not physically or emotionally tormented, then it is a good thing. Why not change who you are and what you think? Change is very beautiful and ushers in new eras of peace. Glad things are finally moving in the right direction.

But that draws into question two things.

1.) What makes you who you are?
There are all kinds of biological and psychological elements that "create" the transgender person. Just like body and mind make male and female, sometimes wires get crossed or stop working at all and make trans!

2.) Who says who you are?
Why does a doctor who sees me in a picture while I'm still floating in water and then once more when I get popped out get to say who or what I am? Does he know me? Does he know more about me than I know about myself? Does what essentially boils down to his best educated guess (really just an opinion) of me matter more than my opinion of myself?

Sorry, this was really put in layman's terms. Really, I could go on and on about all kinds of biology, psychology, and philosophy... but even I get tired of explaining the subject sometimes!

Feel free to check out any of my articles or YouTube videos if you want more information. (Search Google for EamonWill. I write for the Las Vegas Informer. I also used to have a personal blog and for now it's still up though I don't post anymore. Also, like I said, YouTube.) Or for a specific question just ask here. I'm sure any one of us will be more than happy to answer!
