I don't know who said this, but anyway:

"Be open-minded, but not so open-minded that your brain falls out."

Contemplating "what if's" is all very well, but it's useless unless these ideas at least attempt to conform to scientific paradigm and observable phenomena. It might seem conservative, but scientific method is the only way we can ever attain knowledge.

Scientific is the ONLY way we can attain knowledge! PAH! A pox on pure science! We'll move beyond the day of science one day, and look back saying "Why the hell did we care about all those details again? ..."
