I think it should be $1 million in gold. That way it's value increases over time and it won't fluctuate. I would take the gold. I'd rather live a life of fortune, than just dreaming I had a fortune

Doesn't have to be gold. Besides, gold is only worth as much if it is as rare, what if they find bucket loads of the stuff and the value decreases?

With the £1,000,000 and I would take it in Sterling please, its worth twice as much, you could invest and be set up for life

Gold is becomming more and more rare. And whoever finds buckets of it, would become insanely rich! It wouldn't decrease in value though.

Hmmm, it is true, lucids compared to waking life are cool but if you actually lived some amazing moments in your life by taking the money i'm sure it would be better because it would be real and not something in your mind. Even though i said i'd take the lucids, i think the money may be a better option. Its not alot though nowadays though, loads of people around the world are millionaires.

Good question, but it would have to be the extreme lucid ability.

Well, you never said I'd lose my current lucid abilities, so I'd go with the million. That 1 million would be 10 million within weeks.

I would definitely take the LDing ability. A million dollars could cause more stress and doesn't last long if you don't know how to handle money. The LDing ability would help ease stress (for me) and I'd be able to do anything I wanted for free whenever I went to sleep.

Would take the ability over a million or a billion dollars...

Actually very surprised that so many people would take the money o.o

To me the major drawback of taking the ability is that it is selfish (assuming you would use money to help those around you)

Edit: Oops didn't read the last few posts in which almost everyone took the LD ability. Still surprised that this is such a debate for most people!
Maybe, just for a second, you'll be awestruck.
      ...do you feel it to?

Yeah the question was basicly, would you have everything you wanted (without the people ofcourse) or have 1 million (if you assume the vividy of the dream is life like), I'd assume the people who chose the 1 million were more people persons.

Or they simply had a more mediocre view on dreams then I do, and some of you do, not a bad thing though, it's hard to say reather dreams can get so real that they completely simulate reality.

But the question (in the case of if dreams simulate reality perfectly) is in my oppinion requiring of deep thought to get passed the meaning of dreams, being only dreams and not really counted as experience and I beleive some people, and me are biased to beleive dreams are not like real life experiences (even though all experience is subsective (in an indevisual sense) (people, and vividness aside)

I've never had a lucid dream, but I would still take the money. I love dreams, and the thought of banging any girl I want to, eating things I haven't eaten in a long time, having superpowers, and having a mental "holodeck" to do whatever I want is a great thing, but I'd rather be secure financially. Yes, I'd buy a few things, DVDs and such, possibly remodel the house to be more space-efficient, get a good car (not a fancy car, a good one - the one I have now is on its next-to-last legs), but the majority of it would go into the bank and stay there, earning me as much interest as possible.

See, sooner or later, I'll get old. When I do, and my body starts to run down, I'll probably need all sorts of medications and have all sorts of doctor bills and such. It tends to run in the family. We all get by, currently, but I would say we're probably hovering in the middle of the yellow zone. It'd be nice to know that there's a bit of money there waiting for me on down the line, should I really need it.

Yeah, there are millions of people starving in the world, but even if you buy 1,000,000 people in Africa a hamburger from the $0.99 menu at their local McDonalds, that's only going to feed them for less than a day, and prolong the agony of their starvation. Charity begins at home, and if the kids I hope to have one day have the potential to become a scientist with a background in agriculture to help those African masses, it'd be selfish of me to spend their college money on medicine so I don't kick the bucket any time soon. I could use my own $1,000,000 and the interest I'd get from it to pay my own way and not be a burden to them, and they can get on with their education so they can help the starving masses.

I would take the lucid ability.

Some people would rather take the money, but I figure that there are things more important to life than having riches. If you work hard enough, you can earn the 1 million dollars eventually, but can you earn that lucid ability?

You could probably say the same thing about the lucidness but, I think it would be a better goal in life to earn the money, and perphaps the lucidness could help along the way. Anyways, I beleive it will last a lot longer than a million dollars would, and be much more enjoyable than the money.

      FR~

One million. Getting the first million is hard. With one million there is so many ways to multiply and expand that.
