I don't see how glorifying salvia is a problem. It's a perfectly harmless drug. You can't really compare salvia to illegal drugs as they really are two completely different things. If you watched the video for "The Irony of it All" by Mike Skinner (just replace the cannabis with salvia ), you'll get the point that I'm trying to get across. The illegal drugs are illegal because they're harmful and addictive. Salvia isn't like that. Even if it has nothing to do with LDing why stop its discussion in the off-topic forums?

That's subjective, to say the very least.

      It's a perfectly harmless drug.
Really? Losing all voluntary motor function is "perfectly harmless"?

You can't really compare salvia to illegal drugs as they really are two completely different things.
No, actually I can compare the two. The only real difference is the legal status.

The illegal drugs are illegal because they're harmful and addictive. Salvia isn't like that.
I forget, were you one of the ones touting how cannabis is harmless? Because you do know that's illegal, right? Not everything that's illegal is illegal for reasons of danger or addiction (as you all have been adamant to point out). Somethings are illegal for purely political/so-called moral reasons. But again, I don't control the laws and I'm not here to argue the validity of said laws.

Even if it has nothing to do with LDing why stop its discussion in the off-topic forums?
I'll leave that one for others to argue for eternity.

I'm surprised this thread is still active, i thought that things were made clear, ah well, i hope things get resolved, i don't like seeing people battling over there opinions in here because it can just go on and on and never gets resolved.

I find it dangerous to glorify alcohol and have a thread that says, "YOU DRUNK, POST HERE"
thats acceptable but glorification of salvia is not?
      explanation please?

Obviously your only leg to stand on when defending alcohol is its legality, I apply that logic to salvia.

Don't assume that I support the "let's get drunk" threads. I don't. In fact, if you'd read my comments in the "Tell me about getting drunk" thread, you'd see that I am actually against such threads and that kind of public glorification of alcohol.

Before I give my take on what their perspective is, let's face the fact that society on the whole is dumb as a box of rocks. Keep that in mind. With that being the case, alcohol is not the taboo subject salvia is for society or civil courtrooms because the world has bought the lie that alcohol is not a drug. That is why it is okay to advertize it on television and whip it out in front of three year olds at family barbeques. It is not even really a taboo to give a three year old a sip of your beer. You could ask the most "respectable" members of society to have a drink with you and sound like a good ole friendly guy, but you would be shunned and flipped off if you asked those same people to go smoke a salvia hit with you. Salvia falls under the social umbrella of "drugs", and that is why the staff here probably don't want it associated with lucid dreaming, and judges and juries will see salvia as "drugs" also if there is ever a lawsuit. Stupidity is all over the place, and it has to be dealt with accordingly. I would not ban talk of it if I were in charge here. I would even have a psychedelic drugs forum if I made the big decisions here. But I do see where they are coming from.
      You are dreaming right now.

Hmm i defintely understand your point, but i still dont agree with it.
I disagree with there descison to ban talk of physcdelics but I understand there point based on legality.
But what logic could be applied to banning talk of salvia?
Salvia is legal, thats the bottom line.
Banning discussion would be downright irrational. Regardless of the connotations drawn to salvia due to societys ignorance, the facts still stand, the discussion of salvia is legitmate.
I think if they took a hard stance on salvia theyd have a hard time justifying alcohol disucssion.

If you think a drug is bad because its illegal, then you are blind.

SKA, I like the video. Have you listened to Joe Rogan talk about DMT?

      Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grcqs...elated&search=
"The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science. He to whom this emotion is a stranger, who can no longer pause to wonder and stand rapt in awe, is as good as dead: his eyes are closed."
      - Albert Einstein
"We're so engaged in doing things to achieve purposes of outer value that we forget the inner value, the rapture that is associated with being alive, is what it is all about."
      -Joseph Campbell
"He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would fully suffice. This disgrace to civilisation should be done away with at once. Heroism at command, senseless brutality, deplorable love-of-country stance, how violently I hate all this, how despicable and ignoble war is; I would rather be torn to shreds than be part of so base an action! It is my conviction that killing under the cloak of war is nothing but an act of murder."
      -Albert Einstein
