How exactly did McDonalds support a war? Was there some battle for cow fields or potato farms or something? They are all about profit, like all corporations, so how was it in their economic interest to support a war? I'm not saying they didn't. I just can't think right off the top of my head why in the world they would do that.

But that is not to undermine Ronald McDonald's brave efforts for my country. He is fighting in Iraq right now as a Green Beret sniper. The Hamburglar is with him. Grimace has been a P.O.W. in Afghanistan for the past year, but Mayor McCheese was sent on a special Delta Force mission to find him.
How do you know you are not dreaming right now?

This corporation is international, therefore it has global interests. It has funded wars.

McDonald's announced today that beginning next week, it will be introducing a new line of toys in its ever so popular "Happy Meals" to show its support for the "War On Terrorism".

Could you tell me what wars and their specific reasons for supporting them?

At $19 dollars an hour Aus. Or a pre-fixed rate depending on the workload may suit your needs better.

      1. McDonalds is not the only international corporation and the US is not the only country to expand into other parts of the world. Unless you want to grow your own food and make your own clothes and build your own house and create electricity for it and pipe your own running water, then deal with it.

      2. You found that article at uspressnews.com?!? I just took a look at it. Ever heard of a tabloid? Another article from 2004: "12/21/2004-US Postal Service Shredding Christmas Mail - High Volume of Seasonal Mail Simply 'Too Much'"

      3. Starbucks, McDonalds, and Coca-Cola come from the US. Are boycotting bad corporations or American products? There's a difference.

You're right mystic, don't support Mac D's!!! Eat at better fast food cuz donalds gets old!

Screw Micky D's, Sonic is the shit. That and white castle, or if you're in the south like me, Krystals. Actually fuck both those, go to Waffle House for some gourmet fast food haha. Don't leave a tip either! Screw leaving a tip! That's for better restuarants and hot waitresses.

      Thanks for the laugh.

It's good to be reminded the world is like it is for a reason.
I'm sorry, could you explain what's so funny?

How does that remind you that there is reason for commercialism? I just told you that advertisements have absolutely no impact on me, how does that add to commercialism?

I don't think you understand what I mean by 'deflate your ego'. I'll elaborate; you are not the sole person on Earth who perceives/understands this issue. Get over yourself.

I should also point out that commercialism is only really a significant issue in the USA, by comparison. I've never seen Ronald on TV or anything in the UK.

Well, that can go both ways. On one hand, most advertising is easily-ignored. Most people have developed "ad-blindness".

But on the other hand, those who are successful at modern advertising are using years of psychological research, and successfully anchoring feelings of comfort with their own product and feelings of discomfort with those of competitors. This happens on a subconscious level, and can easily be overridden by conscious thought, but still, it causes enough of a shift to be worth the investment. While ads seemingly have absolutely no impact on you, many actually add a slight bias to your decision process. After all, you can't possibly reason through EVERYTHING. The brain is so efficient because it runs on heuristics most of the time.
