I can do that now; without money.

I'm pretty sure that if you're rich enough, you can do whatever you want that is illegal

Why It's So hard to be happy
The pursuit of happiness drives much of what we do, but achieving it always seems just out of reach.

      By Michael Wiederman

What would make you happier? Perhaps a bigger house or a better car; a sexier or more understanding mate; surely, wealth and fame. Or maybe you would simply be happy with finishing everything on your to-do list. Well, stop deluding yourself. Psychological research suggests that none of these things is very likely to increase your happiness significantly.

Take money, for example. Using data from the 2000 U.S. Census, David G. Myers documented an interesting discrepancy between wealth and happiness. Myers, a psychologist at Hope College in Holland, Mich., found that the buying power of the average American had tripled since 1950. So were Americans three times happier in 2000 than 50 years earlier?

I'm pretty sure that if you are absolutely poor and have nothing left to loose, you will do whatever you want, even if it is illegal.

      This whole topic is retarded.

Money is an invention of man. Happiness is not....do I REALLY need to explain the rest?

[No I am not flipping out, just trying to make it plain this time]

I want to shake some people and scream "Wake up!" I cannot stand to see people drowning in this pool of mediocrity.

Wow, I was anticipating a more fiery response than that. Had you entertained it I may have been able to explain better.

Though I cannot imagine you actually feel that I am right about the "mediocrity" thing; I was attempting to provoke a response. I can see where your argument is coming from, so I am trying to get you to "understand" your more passionate side to living. Still, there must be times when you felt passion unmatched, in anger or otherwise....try to answer why you feel that way, analyze the hell out of it until you find out why and do the same for every emotion in every situation where it arises. Don't leave any thought incomplete. If you do this correctly, I think you will find that money is only the superficial illusory reason for the times you were, and what you envision that would make you, happy. I think your conclusions are reached way too early in the experiment.

I understood that you were trying to provoke a response, so I left a ambiguous, non meaningful comment.

I didn't even bother trying to argue, because you are obviously a very different type of person than I am. I will if you want me to, but I saw doing this as futile and a bit pointless, as I doubted either of us would change.

I'm also a bit constrained for time right now, but I will answer your questions in detail and length soon.
