Thread: A very real conspiracy

A huge scandal is about to really hit the fan. Well, I guess it already has, but not like it's most likely going to. There is a high likelihood that a huge national scandal is going to erupt over this, but right now it is just a Mississippi local story. Trent Lott is tied up in it, but his level of guilt or innocence is still not fully known. Do you remember how Trent Lott came out of the blue and resigned recently? Check this out...

There are state legislators, Congressmen, other judges, and tons of lawyers being looked at in this thing. It just might end up being the biggest corruption story in American history. You heard about it here first. Get ready.

By the way, Bobby Delaughter was the assistant D.A. who prosectuted and put away Byron De La Beckwith, the white supremecist who shot the black civil rights leader Medgar Evers. The movie Ghosts of Mississippi is about that ordeal. Ed Peters was his boss, the D.A. In the movie, Delaughter is played by Alec Baldwin, and Peters is played by Craig T. Nelson. Delaughter became a judge soon after the Beckwith conviction. There is a scene in the movie where some local black politicians angrily say on the news that Delaugher and Peters are "putting on a show". Now I really think they were.

Well, the legal system is really easy to break - look at what's happening in other countries. The legal system has always been badly-made, and a huge scandal like this one was bound to happen at some point. That said, this is sickening.

I'm surprised you are the only person who has had anything to say about the story so far. With all of the Ron Paul cheering, Bush bashing, corporations despising, war protesting, and 9/11 conspiracy talk that goes on here, this thread is pretty barren after thirteen or whatever hours. I thought Mystic would have already told at least twenty people how stupid they are.

I'm not sure I follow, could you give a little summary of whatever's going on?

Do you remember the enormous tobacco class action lawsuit of a few years back? One of the plaintiff's attorney's involved in it was the Oxford, Mississippi lawyer Dickie Scruggs. At one point, he was involved in an enormous asbestos lawsuit. One of his partners in that case was the Jackson attorney William Wilson. It was later brought to Wilson's attention that Dickie Scruggs apparently owed him more than $15 million in attorney's fees. Scruggs refused to cough up the money, so Wilson sued him for it.

Scruggs got the lawyers Joey Langston and Timothy Balducci to represent him. Both of those lawyers have since pled guilty to bribing judges other than the one who is the main focus of this particular story. Those lawyers got the attorney Ed Peters to work with them. The judge in the Wilson v. Scruggs case was Bobby Delaughter, who used to work for Ed Peters when Peters was the Hinds County district attorney and Delaughter was one of his assistant district attorneys (a team famous for putting away Byron De La Beckwith for killing Medgar Evers, the subject of Ghosts of Mississippi).

Now picture that. Two lawyers who have pled guilty to bribing judges were working with the former boss of the judge in their Wilson case. That judge, Bobby Delaughter, was discovered to have sent an email to his former boss Ed Peters with a rough draft of the decision he was going to hand down. That is a huge ethics violation by itself, and it also strongly suggests judicial bribery, especially considering the fact that he only awarded Wilson $1.5 million instead of $15 million.

Delaughter has not been shown to have received any money so far, but there is another incentive being looked at. Dickie Scruggs' brother-in-law is U.S. Senator Trent Lott, the former Republican leader of the Senate. If the Republican Party were a gang, he would be one of the top lieutenants. Delaughter was seeking to be appointed by Bush to be a federal judge. There is witness confirmation that Delaughter was told by Scruggs through his partners that Delaughter would be considered for the position. There is also a record of Trent Lott making a call to Bobby Delaughter about consideration for appointment to a federal judgeship. It just so happens that the same day Langston and Balducci were arrested by the feds, Trent Lott resigned from the U.S. Senate. Apparently Lott caught wind of the fact that the feds were on the lawyers' asses because he ended up recommending somebody other than Delaughter for the federal judge position, and George Bush took Lott's recommendation for the other guy and appointed him.

Ed Peters is now in the witness protection program. The word on the streets is that Bobby Delaughter is about to resign. If you look at the Delaughter picture in the article I posted, you can see that he is wigged out pretty bad.

On top of all of that, there is evidence of other judges in Mississippi who have given really strange decisions when Dickie Scruggs was a lawyer in the case. Those judges have heat on them now. How state legislators and U.S. Congressmen other than Trent Lott might be involved is something I am not really sure about yet. I only brought that up because of what lawyers around town have been telling me. It sounds like a lot more might be hitting the fan in upcoming months. Stay tuned.

I know! I expected about 100 flame posts from nobody in paticular -

It's suprising that pretty much no anti-goverment crazy conspiracist has posted "narf, narf, I tooold you, you sceptics with small brains! I RULE!". But the main point of these people is to flame, not discuss, maybe it really isn't that suprising.

By the way, this post deals with three things, Mystic:

1. I think you flame post a lot. That wasn't a flame. I can get you plenty of examples from these forums.

2. I laid out what I think your motives are when you flame (which are entirely my opinion. They don't show you in a good light because I don't believe your motives are positive, and that's different from flaming you. I am simply saying that I do not believe your motives to be good).

3. I mentioned people making obscene comments about skeptical people's brain sizes. I have seen these sort of comments. The point of my raising them was to show that these comments are made, as flames, for no reason whatsoever, and that I do not appreciate them being posted as replies to this type of topic. I believe they are anti-government from what they say, I believe they are conspiracists from what they say, and I believe they are crazy for thinking brain size = intelligence it todays world.

My comments were not made as flames - they simply lay out the sad truth of the matter. The last three points was in an attempt to ward of a huige barrage of flames, but I have no delusions that it will work. I know someone will just come and say "YOu R stupid,", I am simply making an effort.

AHS, good points. Mystic (etc.) is definitely being put to the test concerning what his intentions have been all this time. Let's see how he scores on it. I did not at all mean for my thread to be a troll test, but it looks like it really works as one. I have been reading so much about government conspiracy government conspiracy government conspiracy government conspiracy in this forum for so long, and now there is a thread about one that actually has very strong evidence supporting it. But what is the result? So little room to troll!

UM, I guess it seems like this is just so much regular run-of-the-mill corruption that no one is too shocked. It's only the really big, elaborate, crazy stuff that gets people's attention. Complex schemes with lots of money changing hands involving elected and judicial officials--happens all the time, right?

As far as the really far-out conspiracies--who knows? Truth is often stranger than fiction.

What I posted seems to be "really big, elaborate, crazy stuff". We are talking about Trent Lott. He is/was one of the most powerful people in the world's most powerful government. The story I posted could be used as such a good buildging block for establishing the possibilities of other conspiracies. It looks to me like it's just too real to be worth arguing about. I mean, how can you bash people for not knowing what is going on in situations where everybod knows what is going on? Why even talk about it? Dammit, we cannot insult people when everybody agrees about what is going on. No disagreements? Damn! That means we cannot be dicks to each other, so why talk at all?
