United Soviet Socialist Republic. I see people here arguing the exact opposite/reverse of what you just said. The point is that when you hand all of the economic authority over to the government, they and their system suck really, really bad.

I don't know much about Belgium, so I won't make any comments. But I will ask you my recurring question. What makes things happen under your system? What is the driving force? What makes people excited about getting out of bed and making as much money as they can? That is the principle that makes our economy work better than any other, and our driving force is greed. I don't get along well with people who are overly greedy and materialistic, but they make our economy work very well, so I'm glad we have the bastards.

OK, I have good reasons for not venturing into this thread too often, but I`d just like to ask those concerned if they believe that the american economy is doing well, because I don`t think it`s valid to argue "capitalism is what makes our economy so great" when it`s down the shitter right now.

uh i dont think so...did i miss her speech where she wasn't a capitalist and wanted a command economy? just because she is slightly more pro equity than efficiency, she is Marxist? ohman this is why i am against elections.

I would argue capitalism is what made out economy so great, but because we been sliding more socialist over the years, it has been getting worse and worse.

Actually its the market that our government does that made our economy great. Except it didn't really make our economy great. It just causes boubles, and we think everything is great untill they explode. Everyone who gets out at the top makes off great while everyone else gets hosed. Thats the US system, we hose the little guys.

Another thing that made our economy great is that we loan out money like its candy. We just give it away to everyone, and since we just print it, its no problem. People spend, spend, spend, because all the money is free. Except then when its time to pay the debt, no one has money to pay and it explodes.

Anyone the US isn't totally a capitalist country. Our economy is probably the weakest of any of the big countries at the moment as well.

It's the best economy in the world. It is in a bad phase compared to where it has been, but "down the shitter" is a pretty extreme label for the world's top economy.

We are not as capitalistic as we should be. There is a lot we could improve.
