Ellis, the war in Iraq is far from pointless. See other threads for my zillions of pages of explanations. Capitalism has the potential for good although i dont know why but the word has a bad taste in my mouth.

The point is capitalism is going to leave some people in the dumps(this is were universal healthycar comes in), in some countries like in France and canada i think, they have a healthcare system where the doctors have to work 1 or 2 days out of a week in a public hospital and in the remaining other days of the week they can work on their private practices, ofcourse they get paid in the public hospitals but the wages are not as good as in their private practices.

It seems to me your saying if a Lawyer takes a shotgun and the blows the brains out of a hooker and a Homeless man does the same, then the law should favour the lawyer and give him a more lenient sentence while the homeless man gets the full brunt of the law. Is that what you're saying?

Because in America a homeless person and a laywer are equal but i have a feeling you mean it in a drastically different way. Care to share?

Of course I don't mean that. I'm talking about economical equality.

Hillary Clinton wants to make everybody economically equal, which is something this country cannot be forced to do.

A government that tries to force everyone to be equal in every way is fascist and socialist government. People are not equal in all things. What they should have however is equal rights. The government should make sure everyones rights are protected. Other than that, people are individuals, and they have the right to remain individuals.

Basicly how socalism works, you steal money from the rich people and you give it to the poor. The ultimate conclusion being there is no more rich people, everyone is just poor. They would like you to believe they bring the poor people up to middle class except that never happens. Everyone just becomes dirt poor.

I can name 3 horrible things that are socialist that suck horribly. Social security, medicare, and inflation. Social security sucks because I am putting money into it that I will never get back, and if I do it will be at a greatly reduced amount. I could save the money myself and make 20 times what I could blowing it on social security.

Medicare sucks for pretty much the same reason social security does. The government is basicly stealing my money and giving it to other people. I gain nothing from it at all, yet I will have to pay for it for the rest of my life? Lame.

Of course inflation isn't a program but its a socialist idea. Inflation is caused when the government reduces the value of our money, normally so they can buy and pay for other programs. Inflation is basicly stealing money from everyone holding a dollar.

They're all socialized programs that you wouldn't be able to survive without but I don't hear you guys complaining about them.

Using your logic then police shouldn't be around. I've never had a need to call the police and they've never done anything to help me personally yet I have to pay for them, fuck em.

Public schools are bs for me too. I was home schooled/went to a charter school/went to a private school, they've done nothing for me. Fuck em too.

USPS is unnecessary, I only email, and whenever I do send something I go through UPS or Fed Ex. My money's being wasted on all three of these.

Yes inflation is bad, but it's not like the liberal left are advocating it.

Of course no one is advocating inflation. Just like no one says its a good idea to steal money out of the social security program to pay for other stuff. They do it anyway however.

You ever hear of fedex? USPS makes most of its money from services it gives it customers(which they charge for), and it has competition from public companies. Its a poor example of a socialist program. Infact it really isn't socialist at all.

Police isn't a socialist program either. That is a legitimate job of the government to protect people.

Public schools, now that one is actually a socialist program, except theres a few important things. One our school sucks, so its actually an arguement against socialism. Private and home schooling is normally far better than public schools. Second, it is still legal to go to private schools and home school. People are not forced into going to public school. Since no one is forced into it, it can still be argued its not 100% socialist.

Because it is robbery, it spits on the value of property rights, it takes away the fuel of economic success (which is greed, as Half/Dreaming explained), it wrecks economies, and it has never worked. As for socialism, my recurring question is what the driving force of it is supposed to be. What makes people gung-ho about working their asses off and bringing in massive amounts of money for companies? The only times people explain it to me, they admit that it is only the good will of people to support the economic system. Is there anything else? I can assure you that the good will factor is miniscule compared to the greed that exists in human nature. That sucks, but it is how the human race is. Socialism is a weak attempt to hide heads in sand and avoid that fact of life. Nothing makes business roll and economies rise like greedy owners and exectutives. Nothing. Bah, you shouldn't be complaining about that (if you are), the minimum wage here in the UK is something like £3-£4 an hour, it varies but that seems to be the minimum wage and then you double that to turn it into dollars and you get about $6-$8.

If you want an example of a succesful socialist (partially) state, I'd say Belgium. Our economy is very good so we can't comlpain.
By the way the soviet union wasn't socialistic... It was run by (corrupt) commists. That's NOT the same...
