      Wesley Snipes facing jail time...

      http://www.abcnews.go.com/TheLaw/DOJ...4657728&page=1

for not paying taxes, I don't blame him for not paying, Income tax is unconstitutional and illegal, and the IRS is a joke.

Let's hope he gets ZERO jail time, and speaks his opinions on tax on TV, the people got to realise, that all of this money we give to the irs, just ends up in bankers pockets...its the biggest rip off scheme ever devised....

      anyways, good luck BLADE!

Typical, he doesn't pay taxes so he has to pay 5 million! Looks like they got the money out of him! I thought of O as well

P.s I don't agree with taxes full stop. Sure they have benefits but it's more or less the governments way of getting moey off you, well over here it is anyway.

yea, im sure most governments steal money, like ron paul's desk sign says

"Don't steal, the government hates competition"

but yea, they are going to get the money out of him somehow, and they are going to throw him in prison for 5 years....thats real justice isn't it?

a good man, who harms nobody, refuses to be robbed by the Internal Robbing Service, goes to jail.

Meanwhile, murderers and rapists get out of prison early.

      Talk about unfair....

If it were up to me, I would take every tax sheet in america and throw them into the federal reserve & IRS and light em up, bringing both evil buildings down for good.

I am fine with a reasonable level of taxation. I'm not an economist, so I can't say which percentage is "fair," but I do believe that what I have to give right now is unfair. I came to the realization one day that the government should make better use of what they're given now, rather than have us fork over more as a result of poor planning.

You obey the law. If you don't agree with the law, you work on changing it.

      Agreed.

I really don't know what I feel about this story. More than anything else, I feel it's bullshit that he be jailed for paying something that is absolutely ridiculous, in light of the monetary waste that comes out of government, but I understand that you are responsible for your actions, and if you're going to openly defy the set laws you had better be able to face the consequences.

Making an "example" out of him, by proposing such a maximum sentence is just BS. This is not some violent crime he committed, and politicians take more out of American's finances than his refusal to pay his taxes.

Because the IRS have much power, they can not find the statute that states its illegal to pay your income tax, there is no written law that states you are required to pay your income tax, being taxed on your income is absolutely immoral and the private bankers are robbing us blind, since 1913 we have been robbed on EVERY godamn check, money that can get you into a better school, money that can put you ahead...

One day when the Federal Reserve and IRS is dismantled I will be there to watch them demolish those atrocities that have illegally robbed the American people for nearly a century.

In his defense, there are no laws on file requiring you to pay your taxes...

Yeah, I've heard that. (Zeitgeist, I think) But I would love to see someone try voicing that truth and actually beating the system.

You still have to file the papers and such letting them know your income and where you live, etc...

Something I have yet to do.

I can't imagine how Wesley Snipes can concivably be prosecuted for not doing something that he is not legally obligated to do. It would appear he has an air tight case and he should be able to get of prosecution on that technicality alone that has been mentioned in this thread.

Because there is a large body of judicial precedent for prosecuting for it anyway.

The reason why it is unconstitutional is because it was not ratified by enough states to become an amendment, but it went in to effect anyway. The man who first discovered this had gathered all of the evidence and planned to present it in court when he was charged with tax evasion; but unfortunately someone else tried to use his defense before him but they didn't have the evidence. This means that when they were convicted, it set a precedent that the prosecutors in any subsequent case could use to their benefit. When the man finally went to present his evidence, all the prosecutors had to say was (basically) "someone already tried that" and the judge threw out the evidence.

Since then, the precedent has blossomed in to such a formidable argument, that even someone with reams of incontrovertible proof that it is unconstitutional is still likely to be convicted. This is how the judicial branch of our government manages to easily side step the constitution whenever they want to.

The ability to happily respond to any adversity is the divine.

I can't believe the american judicial system is that fucked up. Really, I can't. Someone needs to take a knife to the whole American system of government.
