How are they interesting to consider? Personally, I find things interesting when they're grounded in reality. For example, I find it more interesting to contemplate the implications of Moore's Law than to try to imagine what would happen if there was suddenly a computer invented that was millions of times more advanced than everything else. Fairy tales like 2012 aren't interesting at all, at least not going by my definition. Hell, 2012 isn't even a fairy tale. Fairy tales at least had lessons to teach. The 2012 crap is just fluff that serves to keep people's minds off their boring lives.

Late-year 2012 will be a great time to pick up some great deals on the stock exchange. I know I'll definitely have some cash tucked away to pick up the run away stock crashes as the media hypes up the 2012 scaremongering. They never can resist a good apocalypse.

You know what...I agree with this. I didn't think about the potential this MIGHT have on the NYSE. That's a good idea Alex.

I wonder how many people won't buy anything for Christmas thinking the world is going to end, then they wake up on the 22nd realizing there's only a few days left to shop? Talk about crowded stores!

Do you have any idea what that statement says about you?

2012 is a demonstration that proves the Mayans had a much more accurate understanding of time in relation to the rest of the working universe.

Plus, the sun will be directly in between the earth and the center of the galaxy. How they knew where the center of the galaxy was without modern technology, I don't think anyone truly knows. That being said, they were aware of something we are not currently aware of. I'm not sure about whether or not we can find out where the galaxy's center is without technology though, so I'm open to information on that. Please enlighten me

But hey, one more precession out of the earth. That's pretty cool.

With Neo's passport. Play all 4 videos simultaneously to get an artistic effect of 'End times'.

It's pretty easy to determine where the galactic plane is. You can do it by looking up at the sky on a clear night and seeing the band of stars, the Milky Way. The area with the largest density of stars is the centre bulge of our galaxy.

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milky_way

You don't need technology to make this assertion. Hell you don't even need a telescope. Just an eyeball.

And I'm not entirely convinced of the truth of the bolded statement above. Even if that were the case, nothing metaphysical or fantastical is going to occur. The Sun is still going to rise on the 22nd, for a lot of disappointed people I might add.

Probably that I understand principles of economics and social hysteria, but I'm sure that's not what you are implying.

I only remember hearing (off of Discovery channel again, hah) that because of our solar system's position in the spiral, there was no way to be sure of our orientation in relation to the center. I may absolutely be wrong. I have the great displeasure of living in Los Angeles, so the whole "clear night" scenario is never going to happen (not while I'm still living here, anyways) .

But here's my bigger question: Is the sun going to be dead-on-accurate exactly in between our sun and the black hole in the center of the galaxy? If that's the case, then we probably should be giving the Mayans a little more credit than that they just have a damn accurate calendar.

Sir, you're challenging my subjective opinion about a person. Here's a word of advice...don't.

I like and respect you Minervas. Afterall, you're a critical thinker and know (like myself) that something's not quite right with the world. But c'mon, you have to admit...He makes a good point. The NYSE might do a 360 on that day.

Besides an overall interest in lucid dreams. That's the only reason I am even at the site, and maybe to practice some articulation. To hear someone say exactly what you want to complete makes you feel like you at least effected something that helped. Even if it was just one person who you would never get to meet.

We aren't here to put people down or throw negativity at them. There is no purpose in responding to someone if that is your main goal.

What doesn't it say? When 2012 brings to mind the stock market you're not exactly getting the purpose of it. People at wall street are not known for their selfless service or compassion. They are not particularly liked 'out there'. I didn't want to have to explain myself the point is to reflect on what kind of person you are. The subject of 2012 to any conscientious person holds more significance that a possible profit on the stock market. The truth is the stock market will probably be the least important thing by then if it hasn't completely unraveled and burst in it's fragile fraudulent bubble.

Looking back on it...I don't think 2012 will have much effect on the stock market at all. I wouldn't think most people who "play the stock market" are the types to believe in such things.

Minervas Phoenix, the last time I checked, someone doesn't have to do scientific experiments to show you don't make sense. Some people can read your shit and not make sense from it, do you not comprehend that? You don't need "proof" for it, it's a person not understanding what point you're trying to come across with. An observation. You can keep assing around trying to run this arguement in circles all you want, but the truth is the truth.

For all you people know Dec 21 2012 could be the birthdate of the Antichrist. The world doesn't necessarily have to fall into blackness on that day.

On the other hand, I am not a superstitious man, so I don't believe in a Mayan calendar predicting the end of time.
