Thread: Dreadlocks

The only reason for dreadlocks is if you are Jamaican. White people with dreadlocks don't look right. As long as you aren't the singer from Counting Crows either

Personally, I don't like them. I like long, soft, straight to slightly wavy hair. But I won't judge people negatively for having them, as long as they keep them clean anyways....

What???? Uh, ok.

I think they can look good, but often the only people with them that I see are pretty grungy and just plain dirty, so I tend to view them in a negative light. Slightly "cleaner" people with dreadlocks is something I am all for though, if they are able to pull it off. It can look really cool. That's much rarer, though.

The only white people I've seen who can pull it off are girls. Sorry guys, but... yeeck.

^^^ I'm really shocked that you guys think they only look good on a certain race of people or a certain gender. That's really weird to me. It's just another hairstyle. I know lots of white males that pull them off just fine.

It's because people are used to seeing 'locks worn by Africans.

If the Caucasians had started the 'locks trend it'd be viewed weird when we saw other races wearing 'locks.

Come now, that's based on stereotypes. Dreads are just a common style in Jamaica, not for them. They're not inherited with them or anything. White people in dreadlocks don't look right? Well I think that depends if they have the look for them, not based on their skin color that you've adapted to seeing.

And no I'm not "Ay mon Jumacahn"..........

Surely you jest... SKA's dreads look amazing. One of the reasons I'm getting them myself.

Ha, my dad loves that band hahaha!

I have seen some bad dreads before.. like a whole web of matted hair to the scalp you can fit your hand under..

but I have seen some ace dreads..

natural ones are cool.. but you can have synth ones that look natural but you get to take them out and clean your head and have crazy colours.

I wear synth ones I think when my hair has grown long enough I may have natural ones..

Its cool having synth ones though as you can change the colours often unlike natural ones.
