The real shame of the election.

We had record turnouts this year for the election. I heard from one place, we hadn't had so many people come out to vote in the last 100 years. The problem is we still only just reached 65% vote turnout.

Why do you think its so low? Are Americans just lazy? Or do many of them just feel their vote doesn't matter, or maybe they felt they had no real choice in the election?

All 3 reasons sounds good to me, and some just don't really care.

I'll tell you what's a real shame, some American's don't think the economy is bad. They told what percentage of American's think the economy is bad, and it wasn't 100%.

That's because some Americans know that a bad economy is Russia c.1917 or the US c.1931. If the economy was really in trouble, you wouldn't see Starbucks and Walmarts on every street corner, now would you? Let's get some fucking perspective here.

I know I'm sounding like a broken record here but....

Those who don't vote are no better off than those who can't.

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

Sometimes not voting is as legitimate a choice as candidate A or candidate B.

If I was ever so fed up then I would at least turn in a blank ballot.

Oh, right, the economy has to be equal to, or worse than the Great Depression to be considered bad. Yeah, the economy we have right now isn't bad, that's why unemployment is ridiculous around here, and the stock market is sucking, and the rest of the country is. The economy is just peachy.

Unemployment is ridiculous? It's up like 2 points. Ooooh, scary. And the stock market had a huge crash all the way back to 2004 levels. Yeah, you're right, we'll all be on bread lines by the end of the week.

Lol. Everything is closing around where I live, because of the economy. The economy is obviously bad or the jobs wouldn't be shutting down. We don't have to be walking in bread and soup lines to have a bad economy. The economy is terrible, whether you'd like you admit it or not.

Those who don't see any change in the economy are the ones who are used to living paycheck to paycheck, and having very little in their bank accounts after bills are paid.

In fact, with gas prices going down they are likely to think that the economy is doing better.

It is the very rich (and some slightly rich) who had their money tied up in these silly games that the financial industry cooked up who are now suffering the most; they are reaping the consequences of financial irresponsibility. And by "suffering", I mean they are losing all of that imaginary money they thought was theirs in the first place.

I can't vote, but I wouldn't have voted anyway. I don't like Obama or McCain. I don't even like Bob Barr. My vote wouldn't even mean anything.

There's an old Russian proverb: "If everyone gives a thread, a poor man will have a shirt." It means that every little bit counts, and one vote can decide it all. Theoretically.

Here's one I made: "Quit bitching, you thankless asshole."
