      This is a biased survey that leaves out important transcendental options (similar to your number 1) that are purely technological in nature. See; Technological Singularity.
      This is something I also consider as a possibility.

      Just look at the big picture and it seems quite clear.

      Unless we really do simultaneously exist in subtle and mental dimensions, in which case the evolution of consciousness would take place at the same time and I still winz.

      Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

      "Mankind is something to be surpassed." … but I really don't see that happening in the near future. At the moment mankind is battling so many problems in the world. It's hard to imagine a world without them.
      I think the moment we really become a more advanced species is when we've perfected raising children. Imagine a world in which all children are raised perfectly to be intelligent, sensible, peaceful and just but all with their own unique personality. Then we would really become a greater society.
