I agree with Merlock that he doesn't have to explain his feelings about anything. His feelings are still valid.

But in terms of rational discussion, Merlock's feelings absolutely irrelevant.

My Student's Union had a lot of on-going transgender discrimination issues. It always shocked me how otherwise reasonable people saw this as such a big deal.

The problem with the bathroom issue in this country is that by law transgrendered people have to spend a certain amount of time living as a woman in order to have the surgery. If they can't use the correct toilet before surgery then they can't fulfil this criteria.
