great speech. I still have never really understood what the big deal is about gay marriage. we dont even have a majority of fundies anymore in this country, so why is it an issue?

I agree, gay people should definitely be allowed to get married. What's the big deal? They're two people who love each other dearly. That's what marriage is for!

Argument: "It will corrupt the sanctity of marriage"
Response: Bullshit. Divorce is at its highest rate ever. At this point, marriage means close no nothing. If anything, allowing gay people to marry will IMPROVE the sanctity of marriage.
Argument: "Marriage is a religious thing, and the bible clearly says that it is a union between a man and a woman."
Response: Double bullshit. (I'll leave it at that. Don't want to begin another war about how seriously the bible is to be taken. )

Another argument against gay marriage...

Bill O'Reilly: If we let gay people get married, what's next? People will soon be allowed to have multiple spouses, and then people will be able to marry animals. It will open up the door to all kinds of chaos.

That stupid type of argument could be used against giving rights to any group. "No, we can't let women vote. What's next? Dogs and hamsters get to vote too?"
