Thread: Rape victim receives 101 lashes for becoming pregnant

According to human rights activists, the girl, who was quickly married after the attack, was divorced weeks later after medical tests revealed she was pregnant.

Her rapist was pardoned by the elders. She told the newspaper the rapist had "spoiled" her life.

It's people like that that make me detest living on the same rock as them. I find it hard to believe they can even be classified as "human". Perhaps bonobo, but certainly not human.

This is really disgusting, and I can't helped but be shocked even though I've come to expect such behavior from those areas. To think that, in 2010, a rape victim is being the one punished... it's so bizarre and inhumane. Can you imagine what it is like for rape victims all across that area who didn't get preg? How many of the rapists have been punished? The girl gets raped, she doesn't say anything out of shame. In such cultures, even the immediate family gets ashamed and refuses to file charges, simply to keep everything private and huddled down.



I must say though, perpetuating more hate/violence is not going to solve anything. That finger/toe/rape comment is just..wrong.

Ye know, I'd think something like this would be all over the news. But it's not really all that publicized..maybe I'm not looking at the right news sources.

Yeah, well I still mean it and stand behind it 100%. If one ruins a life their life should be ruined too. Though I had my doubts as to whether I should let a comment like that remain public. Your post simply confirmed my doubt and I removed it.

What makes it worse is that there are a lot of foreign groups fighting to end animal cruelty over there, but there are still worst things going on like the inhumane treatment of PEOPLE.

It's at times like this I realise how unbelievably stupid the human race is.

Religious doctrine can make people believe that the most crooked thing is the right thing to do. Can you say Mind Control?

Masses of these people choose to live like this. If they really detested this lifestyle too much they would change it, fight it or escape it. They are run by a group of religious despots. We are run by a group of Corporate despots.

Allthough we don't have these horrible religiously motivated injustices, we have our own, other injustices and in the end we aren't muchy more free than them.

What Bangladeshis do is their own responsibility. No matter how corrupt, cruel, injuust and oppressive their authorities(Religion) are'; They submit to their crooked rulers, like we submit to our crooked rulers.
We'd do a better job looking critically at our own nations and ourselves.

We can't possibly raid and invade every country who's values do not compair to our own.
Keep in mind that we, modern western nations, have a pretty fucked up, immoral set of values ourselves.

If we are to adress and change crooked values, let's adress and change our OWN crooked values. Afterall these are the only values we are empowered and responsible to change and improve.

No offense guys but I think this is more an issue of male mentality than religion. You see this kind of thing happening in all sorts of cultures. Religion just becomes the perfect excuse to justify it. You still see remnants of that crap in our side of the world and you don't have to look that far back in time for things to look more and more like what's described here.

We invade countries like that so that, among many other reasons, they won't have to live with horrific justice systems like that one for the next hundred trillion years. And we don't target innocents in this age. The insurgents you have never once in your entire life bitched about DO.

Well yeah but just because we do terrible things doesn't make it ok for others to, or does not make what one person or group is doing any better or worse. I find these arguments to be very odd. I also very much support the fight against animal cruelty. Yes there are many people dying and suffering, does that make me evil for caring about suffering animals? Am I not allowed to care about one person or one thing without caring for EVERYTHING bad about the entire world (without getting guilt tripped)? Eh...

Getting back OT...that's simply disgusting.

It is easy to forget that while we may be in the 21st Century, there are some nations among us whom have not progressed far beyound the 6th.

they do. women in the middle ages were believed to 'send off signals' that left unsuspecting men helpless to prevent themselves... the woman was the instigator and the man was being 'opportunistic.' the only case in which there was really any punishment was when the woman was a noble whose father demanded reparations because his 'property' lost some value.

it gets this insane because some people will always try to find a way to legitimize the way they harm people.
