John Wayne Gacy, Albert Fish, Ted Bundy, Eddie Gein, Jeff Dahmer, BTK, Zodiak, Rostov Ripper, Jack the Ripper, Dnepropetsovk Maniacs, Charlie Manson. Hannibal Lector, Leatherface, Buffalo Bill, Toothfairy, Mike Myers, Jason... So, the first bit are real... and the last few are fake. I picked fake ones that aren't to fantastical... you know, 'realistic' ones. So. Albert Fish, Dnepropetsovk, Lecter, and Myers all interest me the most. I looove the character of Hannibal Lecter... just his past and methods and all that. He's undoubtedly crazy... but he's genius and charming. Same with Bundy. I like Manson just cause he's crazy and kind of reminds me of my Grandpa. Dnepropetsovk are just plain 'evil', and I just love the Halloween series... and how they much importance they place on his past. Anyways. This is a thread about 'Crazies and Killers'... it's your move.

I think Gein affected american culture pretty deeply, especially since almost no one has heard of him directly. All of the most iconic wackos of film are partly based on him; leatherface, Norman Bates, Buffalo Bill. His furniture made from human body parts so shocked the psyche of our society that we can't forget him even if we try. Ted Bundy wasn't much of a genius, but he was sure charming. Bozo the Clown, John Wayne Gayce is one of my favorites, mostly because he was just utterly different than the rest of society. Different enough that I would actually label him insane even though I recognize the socially relative nature of that word. Even after he was caught with 19 bodies buried in his basement, he still claimed all of the deaths were accidental. No matter which way you look at it, this guy has to be fucking nuts to come up with an excuse like that. He also cemented the image of the scary clown into our cultural unconscious for a good long time. I did a lot of study about David Burkowitz when I was younger and I still can't quite figure him out. He claimed all this crazy shit like dogs talking to him and whatnot and then later claimed he made it all up and the murders were just some weird sexual thing, but its hard to tell which one of these stories is the truth. The man wanted to be caught and was relieved when it happened. I don't know, that just seems to suggest that he was not in control; that he was driven by demons of some nature. Ted Bundy got off on what he did, and truly had no remorse. Burkowitz was definitely troubled. I could go on forever. Edit: I actually had a dream about Ted Bundy a couple weeks ago

Thanks for your input! I agree about Gein... he's almost become an icon in culture. Gacey was pretty cut and dry for me... bu interesting none the less. The sadest ones are the ones where you can still see the little thread of reason that they grip on to, and how they can't undo wat they've done even if they want to.

Why do you do it? I do it because I simply hate the world and everything that goes along with it. Including the people on it. I bottle all that hearted up inside me, I have to release it one way or another so instead of taking my life, I take the lives of others. Oh the joy of being a killer! The process of choosing one of my victims: I'm walking down the street, my hands welded into fists and crammed into my pockets, my black pea coat buttoned up to my chest with my collar pimped out covering my dark shadowy face that I hide from others. I see a couple of friends chatting on the patio of a petite cafe. One girl smiles, you can tell she enjoys her life just by the way she smiles. She seems joyous and vibrant. I suddenly feel hatred towards her, no, no, jealousy. How can she be happy and I can't? I hide in a nearby alley across from the café. When she is done enjoying her meal, she scatters off away from her friends, calling for a taxi to bring her home. I skulk in the alley for a little while longer and then find a taxi of my own. I tell the driver to follow her taxi. She gets out and walks across the street into her warming apartment. I do not see her once she gets into the building. I stare up at the building lost and disappointed in myself for not following her in. Then suddenly, a window opens and I see the girls face. She smiles once again. It amazes me that even though she is alone, she is still happy. I know what I must do. I climb the fire escape leading to her apartment window and peer in then 'BAM', I take out my gun and shoot her. I feel a gush of warmth inside me and I realize I am happy then the reality of me killing a person overcomes my happiness and I am depressed once again. That depression leads to more and more killings. I do it for that five minute feeling of happiness that overcomes me when I watch a person die but the reality is, I will never truly be happy. Wow, I must sound crazy right now. That's not true btw! I just made it up...

In the movie, Bundy asks, where the death penalty would most likely be executed. The answer was Florida, so he breaks out (the second time) and murders the five girls in Florida, to be arrested, trialed and exectuted there. I'm not sure, if he really did ask this question, but the rest happened if I'm not mistaken. Was this a deliberate action?

People like to fabricate things related to killers. Dexter and Mr. Brooks are both worth mentioning as fictional killers. Both of them have different reasons for killing and they're both very interesting. If you haven't seen Mr. Brooks or watched Dexter at all, I'd definitely recommend them. Might also be interested in Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris, the Columbine shooters. You can find plenty of videos and articles about them and the massacre. There's even a recording of one of the victims (a teacher) calling 911 around on youtube and such.

I meant to reply to this thread, like, forever ago. youforgotPatrickBatemanpls :> and Aileen Wuornos! serial killers are one of my favourite subjects. I like to study them and try to understand what makes them do what they do. I don't believe any of them are evil - I don't believe in evil at all. I think they kill because of their environment/upbringing/circumstances, and/or because of their brain chemistry, a defect, if you will. but more likely a mix of both, I think. take Aileen for example. I am outraged that she was executed. I watched a documentary on her, she was CLEARLY psychotic. she was talking about the prison guards sending messages to her mind through radio waves (or something like that) hours before her execution. I think a sane person would realize it's far to late to change their minds by acting crazy...don't you? it's tragic. she did not need to be executed, she needed SERIOUS HELP. I think that's what all serial killers need, help. if anything, they can be kept alive and STUDIED. how can we really get in the mind of a psychopath, and potentially learn more to prevent future serial killers, if we kill them all? really. oh, you also forgot Des Nilsen, his story is very interesting. they won't let him publish his autobiography, which I find irritating. you know something else that irritates me? that people bought some of Gacy's paintings just to burn them. that's...awful, to me. we can never get those back. and why would we want to? because, Gacy was a fascinating, infamous character with a twisted mind...you have to be pretty damn cold and morbid to bury 20+ bodies in your crawlspace, and be a CLOWN entertaining CHILDREN. it is part of history, you're burning. worth saving, if only for study, observation. how can we learn if we kill and burn everything we could use to learn from?

Since Ed Gein was mentioned, this might give you a laugh... I spat out my drink laughing when he started singing. I think Richard Kuklinski deserves a mention here. A friend lent me his biography, it was fascinating to read. Combine almost superhuman strength with a terrible upbringing and a complete disregard for human life and you get Kuklinski. As for fictional serial killers, Hannibal Lecter and Dexter are my favourites.

Aileen Wuornos just seemed like a crazy hooker. Dennis seemed pretty standard too. I completely agree about Gacey's painting... it's rediculous how ignorant and stupid people can be. The Ice Man is great. There's extensive interviews with him on youtube, and I've seen them all. Love everything about him... methods, family, manneurisms etc.

Aileen Wuornos just seemed like a crazy hooker. well, she may not have been the bizarre, human-flesh-fashion designer type fascinating but I still find her story interesting. it's interesting (and very sad) to me that she was executed even though she was obviously out of her mind. I guess no one cared about her because she was just "a crazy hooker" and her life didn't matter. Dennis seemed pretty standard too. standard? he lured victims to his flat and strangled/drowned them. he stashed their bodies away for months before cutting them up into little pieces and flushing them down the toilet. The bodies were not immediately dismembered, but were kept, sometimes for several months, in different locations in his home, usually under the floorboards. Nilsen was known to engage in sex acts with the corpses.[5][6] In October, 1981,[7] Nilsen moved several miles eastwards to an attic flat at 23 Cranley Gardens, Muswell Hill. As his murders continued, he found it difficult to dispose of the remains and had bin bags full of human organs stored in his wardrobe. Neighbours had begun to notice the smell. Three people were murdered at this address, and all were stored in cupboards and chests. Nilsen attempted to dispose of the bodies by boiling the heads, hands and feet to remove the flesh and by chopping the entrails into small pieces and flushing them down the toilet. When he tried to dispose of the bodies by flushing them down the toilet, he blocked the sewers of the flats. how is that..."standard"?
