How hilly is your route, man? I do a 40 mile ride around Lake Washington up here, and while half of it is flat, smooth sailing, half of it is hilly, with a long, slight-uphill stretch near the end, where your endurance starts to fade.

I've only ever been able to do it in about 3.5 hours (including some breaks in the middle). Next summer, I'll bring down the time to below 3 hours.

cool! sounds like a good ride.

i normally ride to the beach, 20 miles round trip. it's pretty hilly, mainly sloping towards sea level, but there are some little valleys... i average about 16.5 mph.

have you ever thought about joining a bike club?

Nah, I have some buddies I go biking with.

It's an interesting thought, though. Definitely a way to meet people.
