      Stuck in non-lucid SP = torture

      This afternoon I decided to take a nap. Although I cannot remember the exact plot of the dream I was having, I do recall being very emotionally involved with it. Upon waking, I become locked in between dreaming and waking and I cannot move a muscle. This happens to me relatively often, so I am used to it (but I don't enjoy it). When this occurs, I am always entirely aware of what's happening and I soon wake up. However this afternoon, a white pillow was blocking most of my visual field and since I arrived in this state so quickly after having a highly involved dream, I thought it was a continuation of this non-lucid dream, and I was therefore unaware of my true state. To add to my confusion, my television was on and the voices were frustrating the hell out of me. I began to feel as if I would be stuck this way forever, in this confused, cloudy, uncomfortable, and paralyzed state. The only thing I can compare the experience to was when I first ever encountered waking sleep paralysis, and I had no idea what was going on. It is truly terrifying and seemed to last for hours. Has anyone else had something similar occur? I want to also figure out a way to combat these occurrences because I seem to be getting them more these days than lucid dreams, and it's getting worse.       Yea I've gotten that a lot since I was a kid. The way I get out of them is when you're trapped(I sleep on my back) lift your neck up so that you're looking forward and that usually breaks me out of it.
