Telling the difference between one dream and another?

Sometimes I'll wake up and try to write down my dream and realize that it just seems like gibberish on the page. It took me a while to realize that this is because sometimes I'll be dreaming and suddenly switch to another dream.

What are ways to tell one dream apart from another? Is there a way to do this?

I typically separate them using micro-awakenings, which last longer than they should for me.

If that doesn't work for you, just write down everything you recall and insert breaks between drastic scene changes. I don't think there's much else you can do without recalling what happened between those moments in time. Someone else can feel free to prove me wrong, though.

Huh, that does sound helpful. Thank you - I'll keep it in mind.

I have the same problem remembering the order of events and whether or not some scenes are part of the same dream. I don't worry about it to much I just try to remember as much detail in the scenes as possible. I'm hoping it will get better with time
