      Hypnopompic hallucinations??

      Hi

I've been reading up on these hypnopompic hallucinations and i'm surprised and relieved that its not just me!!

One thing I've noticed that's different with my experiences compared to those i've read about is that i never feel scared or threatened in anyway by the visions i see. when this happens to me i see people usually standing in my doorway or against my wall by my bed. at first i think they are people i know so i try to talk to them or ask them why they are in my room but they never answer. sometimes they are very vivid and sometimes are just dark figures. it depends on how much light is in my room. they never move or anything.

One time i was lying in my bed when i saw someone standing in my doorway, I did not know or recognize the figure but it didn't feel weird that it was there? its hard to explain but it just felt like it was OK for this figure to be in my room. I threw a blanket to the figure as i felt like it wanted a place to sleep. i said that it was ok to spend the nigh and then i went back to sleep. it felt to me that this figure was aq friend even though i dont know who it was.--I know this sounds crazy! when i woke up in the morning i saw the blanket sitting in the doorway of my room and remembered what i'd seen. this was the first time i had experienced anything like it.

another time, i was lying in bed when i woke up and saw a figure standing underneath a painting that hangs on my wall. for some reason, again i thought it was someone i knew so i spoke to it and asked it what it was doing over and over again until i gradually came more and more in to a consciously awake state and the figure dissolved into my wall. i thought i was going crazy

This has happed to me about 6 or 7 times since i was 17 years old (i am now 19) and every time has been a figure of a person (a different person each time)

whenever i tell anyone about this (friends or family) they brush it off as a vivid dream as i am never fully awake when it happens. however i know that it is not a dream as my eyes are wide open and i am conscious of everything else in the room.

does anyone else have the same kind of experience?

My hypnagogic hallucinations are normally a lot more sporadic and strange. I'll see bursts of colors, a face, a place, hear random words, etc.
