      Disturbing Experience..

I had this really disturbing dream/experience a few weeks ago. Either my dream melded with reality or the other way around.

I fell asleep on my couch (I do sometimes because it’s more comfy than my bed!). I had this dream where I was in a basement lit only by a really small red hanging light bulb, but the light wasn‘t red. I heard someone walking above me on the floorboards above and every step dust would come down and float around the little hanging light. I turned and saw these stairs leading up to an old wooden door with these weird marks all over it. Then the footsteps stopped and I heard these really loud pounding noises coming from the door, they started to get louder and louder and I heard wood start to crack like the door was about to explode.

Then I woke up and the pounding didn’t stop. I heard a couple more pounds coming from my front door which is only about ten feet from the couch I was on, I only heard it a couple more times after I woke up then it stopped but it was REALLY loud, like the wood splitting noise carried over too. I was really creeped out by it so I just laid there for a few seconds wondering what I should do, or if it was even real.
Then I got up off the couch and turned the lights on outside and checked through the peephole but I didn’t see anyone or anything. I didn’t open the door because I was too scared, so I went and woke up my roommate to see if she heard it, but she didn’t hear anything. So I have no idea if what I heard was my dream making it's way into reality or the other way around... either way it really freaked me out.
Anyone else ever experience anything like that?

That is frightening. These are the times when it is good to have a roommate I'm sure it was just a continuation of the dream. Maybe it was a false awakening, where you only dreamed that you woke up.

Maybe you wokeup during sleep paralysis. This morning I had a false awakening and then woke up again to two woman cartoon characters running straight at me. I was like ayy! ayy! ay as they got closer but then I woke up for real. That was frightning haha.
Every passing minute is another chance to turn it all around.

      Scary! But only four possibilities.

      1. There was something making the noise and that sound got into your dream but it was real. You were not able to identify the sound, but something real and rational made it.

      2. There was nothing making the noise and you dreamt it. When you woke up but kept laying there and still heard the sound, you were really still asleep and only dreamt you woke up. This happens to me sometimes. Or you woke up only partially so part of your mind was still asleep "hearing" the sound.

      3. There was nothing making the noise. You were fully awake and you are crazy. I don't believe that or you wouldn't be here so rationally asking about it.

      4. There was something supernatural making the noise or the laws of physics and our understanding of reality is all bogus. I don't believe that either!

So I'm banking on 1 or 2 and since your room mate didn't hear it, number 2 is the most likely.

wow, that must be a hard time, I used to have a similar dream like that, I mean the same feeling, it takes me a long time to get rid of it.
Do you dream to be more beautiful, fashionable and elegant? Believe it or not, tiffany jewellery will make your dream come true!

Poor you, it’s awful when you cannot get to know whether it was only in your dream or if those things really happened.
Once I dreamt that somebody was walking around just outside my bedroom.
When I woke up I went to the toilet (most of us do) and when I returned into my bedroom I suddenly saw a person right next to me….
But it was only myself in a mirror….

You reminded me of a creepy story I once read.
      We Danced

Footsteps aren’t an uncommon thing to hear when you’re sitting in a basement, so I think nothing of it when I hear quiet thuds coming from my upstairs hallway. I just assume it’s my brother, and continue doing whatever pointless little thing I was doing at the time. They go on for another couple minutes, and I’m starting to get pissed off. They keep getting louder and louder and I sigh, wondering what the hell my brother’s doing this late at night. I sit there, because it’s impossible to focus with the racket. I mean, it sounds like someone’s power walking all over my main floor.

I sit there and listen as the thumps get faster and wilder. They just keep moving, almost starting to form a rhythm. They move even faster and get even wilder and they’re thumping all over my main floor. I realize that whatever this is, it can’t be human. No human can move like that.

“What the fuck?!” I finally yell. After that, all the noises stop. Everything is quiet for a moment, and then I hear calm, slow footsteps moving to my basement door. The door is pushed open, and the footsteps stop again. I listen to my breathing for the next three minutes, then sigh, thinking it’s over. Turns out something else was listening, too. Suddenly I hear it thudding down the stairs, and I knock my chair over in my haste to stand up. I start to run towards the nearest closet, just in time to see a grotesque, hairless, four-legged creature, dancing towards me, tapping it’s swollen feet in an intoxicating rhythm. I dive into the closet and slam the door shut. There’s a half-second pause and then I hear that same rhythm on the door.

It just keeps going and going with no pause, no rests, no relief. He’s been at it for hours now, and I find myself tapping my fingers along with his song. But then, just as suddenly as it began, it ends. I wait for a few moments, then look out. He’s gone. I flip on a light and fall into a chair. It’s safe. I relax and think for a few moments. But then I notice my foot tapping. Maybe this song isn’t so bad, I almost like it enough to dance to it. So I drop down on my hands and feet, and I start.

Since I assume the door wasn't splintered or had a huge dent it in when you looked, that and the fact your roommate didn't hear it, means it was almost certainly just a dream. It is actually possible to hear and see dream like sounds and images, just prior to falling sleep, or just after waking up.

I had the Flu really bad a couple years ago and i was having this awesome comic book dream where i would go from one picture frame to the next and each would have a different scenario. In the dream i was in a jet that was crashing into a bridge and as it was hitting the bridge my vision zoomed out to the comic and then back onto the next frame that was all black. I slowly saw the doorknob of my room appear and it was still at first. After watching it it started to jiggle and shake as if someone was quietly trying to sneak into my room. My heart was pounding so hard and i was sitting in my bed looking at my door and i wasn't even sure if i was still asleep or awake anymore. Finally the door handle stopped moving and i could hear the fan for the first time. I was sweating and sitting up just as I was in the dream so I was still not sure what was going on but after getting out of bed and getting some water I realized i was awake.
It was very vivid and very intense.
For now.. ill just keep dreaming

Seeing that old wooden stair with the sketchy door and hearing that god awful ruckus, jeez I would have probably started praying for the benediction!
