Dreaming while sick and on cold medicine

Am currently down with a cold and I am curious as to what effect the cold medicine(s) will have on my dreaming. Last night wasn't very good because a sore throat kept me from getting a good night's sleep. Anybody have any experience and/or advice on the subject?

Fevers alone cause very strange and vivid dreams. If your cough medicine has Dextromethorphan in it I'm sure it would affect your dreams as well.

Funny you should post this, I happen to have had a cold the last few days and have taken NyQuil each night. The stuff actually works, so I like it. I had my first LD while on NyQuil. It can mess with your dreams.

DXM (Dextromethorphan, found in cold medicines) can induce lucid dreams.

I can't remember the name of the cough syrup I had to take one time, but damn it was powerful! It was prescription strength, tasted good too, but damn I tripped balls awake and asleep. My dreams were lucid as hell and I can still remember those dreams to this day! As for the day time, I started hallucinating, but I loved it. The doctor probably knew I loved it and wouldn't give me any more of it, what a dick.

I usually don't take any medicine, unless it is getting bit too serious, so can't say about that. But when I'm sick, my dreams usually get semi-creepy. Luckily I'm rarely sick, so maybe it was just coincidence.

Currently been diagnosed with tonsilitus again. I sleep for 8-9 hours and still feel shit when i wake up, like ive only slept 4. My head is so hazy when i wake up i push aside wanting to remember my dream cause it requires too much energy, and deeply regret it later lol. Picked up my tabs today though, Penicilin V. Will see how this shit effects my dreams tonight. Cant wait to sleep properly again.

Penicillin is an antibiotic, there is no reason to think it would have any effect on your dreams. Hope you feel better soon though.

Fair do's, as long as it gets rid of it then its just positive side effects- better recall! and thanks.

I assume that these people are merely taking recommended doses of their cough medication, because taking larger doses to trip is going to prohibit any sleeping and/or dreams. Astral projections/hallucinations, yes, lots of those with the eyes closed. But no actual sleeping or dreams. I did used to get OBEs from dxm, but those were always after about an hour of really deep meditation. Also a great way to delve into the mind and uncover old memories...dxm is the skeleton key of body/mind.

For some reason, when I experience nausea in the middle of the night, I have very strange thoughts and dreams.

Usually when I'm sick, I have the most interesting (at least to me) and vivid dreams. However, I was sick this past week, and I found that not only did my dream recall suffer, I didn't even dream for the most part. My dream journal entries went from paragraphs to sentences.
