      Method for Remembering Dreams

      Ever thought you didn't dream at all (even though that's silly), but then later remember a glimpse? Not even a complete thought, but a tiny inkling that feels almost the same as de ja vu. Here's my story and method for turning that inkling into remembering the whole thing.

      So once again I didn't even feel like I dreamt that night. About, I'd say, 3 hours after I had woken up, I walked into the kitchen and looked at a satsuma that was on the counter. What that had to do with my dream, I still don't know, but as soon as I laid eyes on that satsuma a little spark ignited in my brain that I always associate with remembering a dream. I froze, but the memory was already slipping away, so for the first time, I tried harder to remember. I backed around the corner, then walked back into the kitchen again and glanced at the satsuma. I felt the same exact spark, but stronger. I felt like I was on to something, so I did it a couple more times. I felt like it was on the tip of my tongue, then as I came around the corner again, it felt like someone had broken a dam in my brain. Almost my entire dream came flooding back to me.

      So basically, the next time you get the inkling, try and recreate the exact circumstance that you were in when you got it. Before you recreate it, relax your brain, and stop trying to remember it. Keep doing this until you remember. Once you remember, I find that typing the dream (writing is too slow) or telling somebody about it especially, always helps me to put it in the right order. Talking about it helps me get the sequence of events down, and sometimes more pieces of the puzzle fall into place.
      Dreams say what they mean, but they don't say it in daytime language. ~Gail Godwin

      What's funny is that I didn't feel as if I had a dream last night. But I managed to recall a small part of it where I'm just walking towards some place, and a white truck drives by the walking area, which was weird to me.

      Now in reality, I just kept a record on my sound recorder until I typed it up after my Chemistry Lab class. Then as I'm going to the bicycle parking, I see a white truck pass by, it's one of those Ford White trucks, and it's basically the same in the dream I had.

      And yeah, I think using a voice recorder as well can help when you're talking about the path of events occurring.

      But sadly I can't remember all of it, despite the white truck in reality being my "spark" for a deja vu.

      Wow, so, it looked just like your dream? Crazy stuff. Do you believe that it was telling you the future? =O
      Also, i guess you can't walk away and come back to a moving truck ^^;

      Wow that's awesome! Sometimes I get thoughts like that and I'll be sure to try that next time.
