      Has this happened to you?

I'm in the early stages of LD-training. Sometimes when I go to sleep at night (with the intension to fall asleep normally) I suddenly discover that my breathing is like when I sleep. When this happens I'm always suprised because I feel so awake. Of course, now I feel stupid because every time it happen I rush to fall asleep for real

Maybe this is the perfect opportunity to try WILD? (which is what I'll do the next time)

I am not entirely sure as I am too in the early stages of LD-training, but I have also been able to discover how I breathe when I sleep. I actually experienced it last night at around 5 am. However, I have never been able to fall directly into a dream this way. Instead, I too just fall directly to sleep. Another interesting thing I have experienced, is how my thought process becomes gradually irrational as I fall asleep. Kinda wierd but I start seeing things right before my eyes, and I start thinking about the darnest things, from nonexistant math equations, to impossible art techniques, to animals that do not exist. It all just starts to warp into total chaos. It is quite interesting, however I have never been able to do anything even with this. I just fall straight to sleep and have non lucid dreams. Oh well, practice makes perfect

By "my breathing breathing is like when I sleep" do you mean it is deep and calm? It sounds relaxing. I definitely think you should try out the WILD technique. Have fun! And Welcome to DreamViews.

That's definitely hypnagogia. It's pretty cool eh. Have you researched any of the WILD techniques here on DV yet?

Yes indeed, my breathing was surprisingly deep and calm, quite unlike regular breathing. It was kinda weird, but it was indeed relaxing, but I think I experience hypnogogia (I didn't know there was a name for that lol) far more frequently. I'm afraid I have yet to check out the totorials on WILD, but I think I will. Currently, I am just trying to increase dream recall, and dream incubation. There is a certain dream character that I would like to speak to again and I am hoping I can will him to come out. And perhaps practicing WILD will also allow my desired dream character to come out. Who knows?
