Hearing words from foreign languages in dream

Had an interesting, though not lucid, dream last night.

A little background: prior to going to sleep last night I had studied for a Retail Marketing exam for a few hours, which had a lot to do with markup percentages at retail stores and similar subject matter...after studying I watched the TV show Supernatural for a few hours on netflix instant view with my roomates.

In the dream: I was in a department store with the brothers Sam and Dean, from the show Supernatural. The shelves of the department store were lined with reptiles...mostly formidable looking snakes. I made sure to keep far away from them. Behind one of these isles was a tunnel to an underground area. Me Sam and Dean had to get past the snakes into the tunnel. There was some dialogue between us before going down about a letter to Dean from their father. I could feel a little tension between them because of Sam's jealousy that their father had written to Dean and not to himself.

After somehow making it down the tunnel, we came across a new, sealed passageway marked with ancient looking symbols...Sam seems to recognize it. He called it a "Tunnel of Pengar."

I awoke immediately afterwards, and, out of curiosity, I googled the word "Pengar".
Apparently, Pengar is the Swedish word for "money". I dont know what kind of significance this dream had, but I do think its interesting that money and profits has relation to Retail Markup percentages, which i had studied the night before, and that it was ingrained in my dream in a very discreet way. I also think its odd that the dream displayed the information to me in a language that I am not consciously familiar with.

My google search also led me to a link which refers to "Stockholm"...which is the largest city in Sweden...and then also goes on to say, "Underneath the locale are tunnels between the banks and department stores, and under these tunnels are fibers.
      Money races through these fibers."

So... the dream talks about a "Tunnel of Pengar"...which in Swedish means a "Tunnel of Money"...which I was led to from a department store filled with snakes...and then the link I found talks about underground tunnels in Sweden that connect department stores to banks...which "money" flows through.

Not sure how these things might be significant to me...but it did blow my mind a little.

I have dreams where I hear foreign language words when I have been learning Russian.

I've heard of people who only dream in foreign languages. I wish I had dreams with more talking in them.

Are these those people's native languages, or a languags theyve never learned?

Languages have been around and developed since the dawn of time. Communication is key to all developments.

Languages they've never learned, though this is not as "beyond dreaming" as it might sound. If I watch japanese movies all day long I'll probably have dreams in japanese too.

First of all, that's a pretty rad dream, fullofbull58. It does sound to me like you tapped into some knowledge outside of yourself. Even if the info is not specifically relevant to you, it is interesting that dreams are able to do this.

As for dreams in other languages:
I've had entire dreams in foreign languages I don't know. I've also had dreams (both lucid and non-lucid) where a specific character would speak in a different language. Sometimes I understand the language, and sometimes not. Unfortunately, I never remember any of the words or phrases heard in the dream, so who knows if I actually heard the language or if it was just some gibberish my brain was making up.

Interesting. Thanks for the feedback. I wonder if its symbolic that you can understand the language in some dreams but not in others.

I had a dream where a pregnant woman came forward to me and said "Help" in Japanese. I knew instantly what it was and I even told her I understood her in English probably. When I woke up in real life, I couldn't pronounce that word but when I searched for "Help" in Japanese, it's almost exactly the same pronunciation. I've probably heard it when I was watching animes.

It could be a deeper understanding of things that you do not realise that you have. Latent Talent.

I don't think it is symbolic, whether I understand the foreign language or not depends on the context of the dream. For example, I was in a brothel in a lucid dream and some Russian gangsters walked in . They spoke to me in English, but to each other in Russian which I didn't understand. This makes sense in the context b/c I was aware that I don't actually speak Russian. In dreams where I understand the foreign language, I am in another country in the dream (usually non-lucid) and in the dream believe that I can actually speak that language.

Russia is an amazing place, I am glad that I have been to Moscow and St. Petersburg. I was in Scoff, and I have been to the Kremlin, and since that my historic dreams have taken a new twist.
