I've been keeping a dream journal for about 21 days now - and I know that a lot of weird things happen in our dreams. But this dream was weird because of what happened upon waking.
Two things:
1.) The manner in which I woke up.
2.) The unusual number of hypotheses of how my dream came about.
For #1, I mean... I woke up suddenly, and with a move to the left. Nothing scary was happening, it wasn't a nightmare or anything - but when I woke up I was in the middle of doing a strange move where I sat up in bed and looked to the left of my bed. Not looking for anything, not scared... In fact, it's almost like I didn't wake up until halfway through the motion. That was quite odd indeed.
For #2, I mean... it seems like this dream, unlike other dreams, I could pin-point the source of different dream elements MUCH Better than previous dreams.
Example:
1. Raft overturned - Possibly a part of the recurring element of vehicle accidents in my dreams. Also, possibly referencing to the time I was canoeing with my family (three separate canoes), when we came on white water, and watched as other peoples canoes were thrown into a fallen tree, causing mass hysteria at that area. When we came upon the tree, my brother and I remained afloat in our canoe, while my stepbrothers canoe went down and my mother and stepfathers canoe went down. I was holding on to my parents' canoe and trying to keep the canoe with my brother and I afloat at the same time. We hit a giant rock and went overboard, after that I went after my little brother, but I was exhausted and the current was too powerful. (What's funny is that it was only like 1 foot of water, but the momentum was too powerful to stop my movement and stand up, so someone had to come help me). Ultimately it wasn't a traumatic experience, because all the people who wrecked were helping eachother get back afloat. In fact, it was actually pretty badass, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat, lol!)
2. Sucked into water current - Possibly from the extreme wave-pool at New Braunfels Schlitterbahn, where people huddle around the beginning of the wavy river for the giant rush of water to come down so they can jump in the current.
3. Coming up for one breath while being sucked into water current - Perhaps this is due to sleep apnea? Maybe I was dreaming that I was underwater because I had stopped breathing in my sleep?
4. I was laying down during most parts of the dream - Perhaps those parts of the dream were Sleep Paralysis? I'm not 100% sure, but it feels like those parts of the dream were hazy and could have been episodes of SP? Not sure
Anyway... I figured I'd share what happened, and see what you guys think...
If you want to read the dream it should be in my dream journal.
