      Hi there fellow dreamers lol,

Ok so my doctor put me on Diazapam 3 days ago and since then I can't remember my dreams, not even a fragment, nada!!!. Has anyone else been on this and does it have an effect on your dreams, does it stop you dreaming or is it just me . Thanks for any replies my friends

Benzodiazepines are known to hinder dream recall, as they increase the amount of stage 2 sleep and decrease or suppress the amount of REM. The only positive is that they may cause REM rebound, and it's possible you will have better dream recall on the nights you do not take the drug. You may also find increased experiences with sleep paralysis whenever you do not take it. But in general, diazepam is deleterious to dreaming.

"They improve sleep-related problems by shortening the time spent in bed before falling asleep, prolonging the sleep time, and, in general, reducing wakefulness. However, they worsen sleep quality by increasing light sleep and decreasing deep sleep. Other drawbacks of hypnotics, including benzodiazepines, are possible tolerance to their effects, rebound insomnia, and reduced slow-wave sleep and a withdrawal period typified by rebound insomnia and a prolonged period of anxiety and agitation."

This is very interesting, because last night I experienced the exact opposite. I took 5 mg Diazepam (Valium) at around 01:30 AM, went to bed at 03:30 AM, and woke up around 13:00 PM.

I had very vivid dreams, and my dream recall was very good. In fact, dream recall was better than the last few nights when I didn't take diazepam.

Maybe it has to do with the fact that I slept many hours, or perhaps it's just different from person to person.
