A Dream from a Few Years Ago

So I'm new around these parts, BUT I have this dream that I think about from time-to-time (the dream happened during my Senior year of high school). So here it goes:

(Dream starts) I'm standing on a train station platform waiting for my train to arrive. The surroundings are dark and eerie. The only parts of the station building that exist are the platform I'm standing on, a pillar made of brick that's crumbling, the train tracks of course, and a book shelf a little ways from the pillar. There's no ceiling, and I can see the red sky filled with dark gray and black storm clouds. I have a duffle bag in my hand, but I notice there's a young girl (maybe around the age of 6 or 7) standing by the book shelf, and holding a big teddy bear almost twice her size. She sets something on an empty shelf and walks away.

Curious, I walk over to the shelf and notice there's a teal-colored Gameboy Color on the shelf, and next to it is a game cartridge. I set down my bag, pick up the handheld system and the cartridge. When I boot up the game the title screen immediately loads and there's an 8-bit image of a banshee, but no text is on-screen. The game makes its 8-bit noises for the banshee's scream, and before I can press any button I have this feeling there's someone watching me. So, I look up and see the young girl, but then i ignore her and look back at the game. But instead of playing it I look up again, only this time to see the banshee from the game...IN MY FACE!!! Screaming at such a high pitch it's earsplitting, and the banshee leans in almost as if to bite my face, but I wake up.

i didn't move in my bed at all when I opened my eyes, but instead I shut them and fell asleep immediately, and I picked up where I left off..the banshee SCREAMING in my face! But this time it's LOUDER! I awake again! i can feel my heart racing, but I shut my eyes for a second time, the dream JUST KEEPS CONTINUING! I CAN'T SLEEP LIKE THIS MUCH LONGER!!! I wake up, rinse, and repeat until finally I jump out of my bed and decide that 7am on a Saturday morning is the perfect time to start my day and think about that crazy nightmare I barely escaped!

I apologize for the novel I just wrote to you all, but the dreams I can remember are always so vivid. Which is why I'm interested in Lucid Dreaming, but even though I don't think this dream was lucid it does sound like the Dream Exit Induced Lucid Dream technique. Coincidence i suppose. Hope you enjoyed that crazy nightmare of mine, haha. I find it funny when I think about it.

Wow! I'm surprised you remembered it so vividly. I like it (story wise.) I don't think it wasn't necessarily lucid, even though you did have some control of what was happening. When you wake up and go back to bed immediately, your unconscious is still focused on what it was just thinking of.

The sailor does not control the sea, nor does the lucid dreamer control the dream. Like a sailor, lucid dreamers manipulate or direct themselves in the larger expanse of dreaming; however, they do not control it. Lucid dreaming appears to be a co-created experience. ~Robert Waggoner

Oddly enough, all of the dreams I can remember are just as vivid. I even still remember a dream from when I was about 5 or 6 years of age.
From a story perspective, I can see why anyone would find it interesting, but I promise that it was a lot more frightening than how you may have pictured it, haha. But it's just one of those dreams that I enjoy sharing, and it's another reason to practice attaining lucidity!

Still focused on it, huh? That's interesting. Can you actually interact with your subconscious mind during lucid dreams as well? If so, how will you know that that's what you're interacting with??

      haha very cool.
The first step to making a dream come true is to wake up!

Thanks. I find it pretty cool now, but at that moment it was pretty scary.

It's interesting how some dreams can be so vivid and we are able to remember them for many years to come as if they just happened yesterday. Dreams are timeless and being able to remember them long after you've awakened gives us such a strong sense of what dream energy is all about.

I always encourage others to write out their dreams so they can better recall them for years to come. ; )

When you're sleeping, your conscious is not processing anything that is going on, unless you are lucid. Dreams are all a construct of your unconscious and subconscious, which is why they are very random. When you lucid dream, you are consciously aware you are dreaming, and can have "control" over your dreams. Your unconscious and subconscious are still doing their own thing, but you can consciously interpret it and change it. As to your question, I've never tried (or heard of) attempting to interact with the different parts of your mind. It would be a very cool thing to explore though!

This past week I haven't been having very many vivid dreams. Though I've only gone to sleep a little earlier than I usually do, my dream recall hasn't been as good as when I first started trying to attain lucidity. But whenever a dream comes I'll definitely put it in my journal! I've got two entries in my DJ on the site if you're interested.

It would be a very cool thing to experience. Just this week I haven't had much luck with obtaining any sort of memorable dream :/
