Is it possible to see what's happening in the real world.... while asleep?

About a month ago, I was driving across Western Canada. I was starting to get too tired to drive, so I pulled over to sleep for a couple hours. I remember dreaming that I was driving down the road, and I was approaching 2 cop cars on the right side, with their lights flashing.
As I drove closer, the lights got brighter, and brighter. I remember seeing a dark silhouette figure walk in front of my car, and disappear into the shadows, on my side of the car.
The lights were starting to get too bright, so I put up my hand to block the lights.

All of a sudden a cop had physically opened the door of my car. The two cop cars were placed in the same spots I had dreamt the were in.
This wasn't a surprise to me. I simply seen the cop lights through my eye lids, and started to dream about the cars being there.

The part that has me so confused, is the dark figure that I seen. Which could only of been the cop, walking in front of my car to open the door.

I seen the cop walk in front of my car, and to the side of the car where my door was. All without opening my eyes.

Is it possible that I seen the cop with my eyes closed? I know for a fact that I was dreaming during this time, and that there is no way I didn't just open my eyes unconsciously. I remember the image of the entire dream, there were no borders (Like watching a movie in full screen), and only different shades of black. Plus the lights on the dashboard were on in my car, so I would of seen them if my eyes had opened. The headlights on my car were on too. So if my eyes were open, I would of been able to clearly, and in full color, see the cop walk in front of my car.

I'm BAFFLED!!.. any comments would be helpful.
      Thank you!!

Actually the first dream I can remember involved something like that, where the clock in my dream said the same thing in real life down to the minute, and I was in the same position waking up as when asleep.

Some people believe in energy fields and those energy auras around people......, but I don't know much about that.

Some believe in OBEs and remote viewing and that sort of thing.

You say you're not surprised that you "saw" the cop cars because of the light, which makes sense to em. If your sensing the light crossed over, so too would seeing a break in the light caused by someone crossing in front of it. You were already seeing cop cars in your dream, and you were in a car, so your mind just filled in the object crossing in front as a cop, who would most likely in that situation be making his way to your door, so that's what you saw; that's generally the (simplified) process your mind goes through to generate many dream elements. Your processing of waking reality works in much the same way, but most people don't understand that because it's generally done smoothly enough that you would never realize it.

That makes total sense with what I remember seeing actually. There was a big blizzard happening too, that's why they were checking on me. If my headlights were shining on the white snow, then I would of seen the cop, wearing all black, cross in front of the light.
      Thanks everyone!

There is something called "seeing through closed eyelids". It can happen when falling asleep or waking up or entering a lucid dream/OBE. It happened to me a few times when falling asleep, when suddenly I realized I see my room with eyes closed. Maybe something like this happened to you.
