I'm quite the lazy person myself when it comes to DJing and a few weeks ago finally set the commitment to DJ everyday without fail when my dream recall just went downhill and I noticed I would get lucid dreams and not remember them the next morning. By the very first night I immediately noticed significant improvement in both dream recall and unexpectedly the vividness of the dream as well; I would remember 3-4 full dreams and a few more fragments, and the dreams felt much longer, crisp, clear, and real. As a result, I've even managed to get lucid more often.
It's recommended to everyone (lazy or not, haha) who wants to lucid dream to continuously dream journal--even if you don't remember a single detail about what you dreamt last night, you still write "I didn't remember any dreams" and this will keep up the habit of DJing as well as tell your mind it's important to remember your dreams when you write them down. The dreams will be much more vivid as well and you'll find you'll have much better chances to get lucid. I think the reason for this is because you're actually more focused on your dreams and remembering them and having them (though I may be wrong), but whatever the cause, the short answer is: yes, DJing will increase vividness and it's definitely recommended to do if you plan to lucid dream.
Oh, by the by--DEILD doesn't have to be (though it is recommended) done with the dream you just had before. I've had DEILDs where I just let my mind form a completely entirely new scene, with a bit of input from me here and there. Basically exactly like a WILD, it just skips the first half (the preparation, getting relaxed, etc.) of the steps.
